I don’t remember how I first saw Evidence, but I just bought it on iTunes to watch again. I still think it’s as creepy and mysterious as the first time I watched it.
The story The Thing is based on was written in 1938, so I’d say no.
The reason she was aware of what was going on during the ceremony is because she didn’t eat it all so was only partially drugged.
I don’t think Mrs. Gardenia was part of the cult, she was just growing herbs for Minnie. Then, once she discovered the evil intentions of the cult, she tried to cut them off.
I loved it when I was a kid.
The demons were there because of her guilt and torment for not being there to pick up her son because she’d been having an affair with her lover. This led to her child’s death. The light, the angel, the god or whatever it was, was whatever lay beyond her agony—forgiveness instead of guilt and anger and revenge.
I usually don’t like thus moral dilemmas in horror movies, but I think it worked well here.

We had just moved from Miami to Clearwater in the very end of 1973. My parents were fighting all the time. My mom dropped my sister and me off at the Clearwater Mall and we watched it there. That’s all I remember. Must have been early 1974, I’m thinking. I was 13.
The Wicker Man and Harvest Home are both influenced by a 1970 British TV film called Robin Redbreast. It’s on YouTube and is pretty good.
The Wicker Man took its policeman investing murder in a pagan town theme from a 1967 novel called Ritual, which wasn’t very good.
As for Harvest Home, the book is much better than the movie, which I think is overacted. The main character in the TV movie is much more annoying than he was in the book.
I agree. I didn’t like the end, even though I love the film. I think the film was apologetic at some points for so throughly trashing twisted religious belief. This was, after all, the 1950s, when just about everyone was Christian to some extent.

I turned 19 in late 1979 and even then I didn’t think the movie was so great. It was ok, but I’ve never watched it again until now.
It’s actually kind of boring.
Event Horizon is my favorite sci-fi/horror film.
I rented it at Blockbuster.
