Star Wars is the first film I ever saw in a cinema. I was not yet 6 years old and I can vividly remember so much of that night, even coming home and running with my arms extended imagining I was Luke in his X-wing blowing up the Death Star. The toys followed, and the themed birthday parties. I also remember how we all felt after ROTJ left theaters. It was over, it felt like we would never return to that galaxy far far away. When the special editions were released in the theater it was great to relieve it all but it wasn't really new Star Wars. Finally the prequels came and the excitement was beyond belief even if the films were not the best they were still new Star Wars. I don't bitch, moan, boycott the new films. I am just thankful that 40 years later I can go and see new Star Wars stories. I think young people don't appreciate what it was like to have nothing new to look forward to. Even if it's not the best, not what you imagined and hoped for, it is still there and for that I am happy. The real story hasn't really started yet. The Dr. was interrupted before doing the injection. Mei was not infected. I was disappointed that the "tower" was dropped from the story. That was some of the creepiest story telling I have ever read and I was looking forward to seeing it translated to the screen. The psychologist's hypnotic control also nowhere to be found. This movie really isn't even telling the same story as the book and I wish it had. They are pod people. =P It was part of the plan, that happened off screen. Everyone knew he was going there after they successfully trapped the Saviours and eliminated the outposts. Though him going alone with no back up at all is an odd thing. I have seen the theory that he is the white Klingon. I don't recall the names. She's fully human, the only survivor of a Klingon attack on her colony. Why she was taken by the Vulcans and raised by Sarek and not returned to the Federation is something I guess we will have to find out. I guess her back story is more in line with Worf's. 1.) The object was in a sensor dead zone. I don't think we have seen any automated drones used in Star Trek before. 2.) I liked the call out to the original Star Trek (well maybe it was motion picture) opening music. The style is all the rage now, best get used to it until the next thing comes along. 4.) I noticed that with the make-up too. I didn't mind the language but I watch a lot of films with subtitles. The slow speech pattern of the main character was weird though. 5./6.) I have watched a lot of the original series lately and there was similar conflict. The rivalry between Michael and the science officer wasn't adversarial in my opinion. She acted the way she did out of respect and love for her captain and crew, she made a wrong decision and I'm certain that will be dealt with as the character is developed. 7.) I think it's too early to make that call. It's not going to be a forehead makeup of the week type of show and will have a single story arc. Nothing wrong with that is there? 8.) Why did the captain and first officer go alone on a mission to capture the Klingon? Surely only one of them should have made the trip and that should have been with at least half a dozen red shirts. I guess the plot needed to find a way to kill the captain off. 9.) The admiral would have evacuated as much of his crew as possible before self destructing to take out the Klingon ship that rammed him. That didn't make any sense. I thought you were going to mention how, at one point, it seemed the boat was going against the flow of the water. That bothered me. View all replies >
