The 2003 film had the better casting because it didn't pander to wokesters looking for a diversity quota that made no sense. As for Meg, the 2018 film didn't have a beautiful girl it had a token black girl that wasn't right for the part and only ticked a box for gender. The film was the typical woke shit show that no one other than ignorant wokesters wanted which is why it failed at the box office. Lucas was not a director that spoon fed the actor precisely what they should do and how they should do it... but his style didn't make Alec Guinness or Richard Dreyfuss look bad when they performed in movies he directed. The bottom line is a good actor isn't going to look bad as an actor simply because the director is out of their league. Hayden just wasn't that good and certainly didn't have the ability to elevate a poorly written roll into something better than it was. His delivery of lines in the Star Wars roll was so wooden and lifeless it probably left every high school drama student that watched it think they could have done better and a lot of them probably could have. At the time I just assumed Lucas thought Hayden looked like what he thought Jake Lloyd would look like when he got older and because Lucas was so focused on special effect that he didn't bother to see if Hayden could act. Yes, D&D is diverse. But the movie takes it to a whole new level that makes it laughable. Are you surprised that the best warriors are women in the movie? No, but then suddenly 2 of the knight like guards popup where one looks like a fat Pippi Longstocking and the other looks like he came straight out of Compton.... Why? Was it not enough to have best fighters all be women? Did we need to try and see just how overly woke a movie could be? And sadly it wouldn't have mattered if the movie had not been wokified, the casting of Chris Pine was simply a bad choice. He was the weakest character, whether it was because he was neutered to allow the women to be the saviors I don't know... but he really just seemed to be going through the motions. Never underestimate the seduction of money. If they throw enough money at him, he'll do another one. The only real hope that that wouldn't happen is if he were to retire and the the hell out of California... but as long as he lives in California the state will be draining his bank accounts like a vampire on a virgin and it is only a matter of time till he has to make more money. Honestly, the action sequences in Paris got a little tiring and boring after a while. They spent too much time going up the stairs and while a blind assassin in a building is over the top it was way over the top to have him out there on the stairs magically knowing just where to strike. The door chimes in the first sequence at least gave a slightly plausible way... but knowing where to strike on a stairway out in the open where you would have not had intimate knowledge of it was just stupid. The problem is the first movie was at the right level of plausibility... but with each movie afterwards it became more and more like a comic book crazy. I would agree, he gets shot 3 times in the duel, one in the arm, one in the shoulder and the other one in the lower left side... If you recall the doctor that was patching him up in the 3rd movie asked John to shoot him in the same place on his left side and left shoulder because they wouldn't be fatal shots but would convince the high table that he hadn't help John willingly. So given those same shots were intended to be survivable on an old doctor they should have easily been survivable by John. Yes he did collapse on the stairs, but that doesn't mean he collapsed because he was dead it is possible he was just tired from being up all night. Yet another woke warrior trying to explain away the problem of the woke folk. Go do a google search for Richard Pryor exorcist, listen to the video and you'll understand. The same stereotype of blacks being easily spooked is also in one of the Waylan brothers movies. Apparently Hollywood hasn't learned anything form the female Ghostbusters bullshit. Diverse cast when the original cast was a male and female makes me wonder what these idiots have in mind, will it just be race swaps or will they be doing tranny-files. Frankly when I read it, I was reminded of Richard Pryor's bit on the Exorcist where as soon as something spooky happened the black would be gone. The Asian woman that has the fake gray hair. Maybe she's really 30 something but whatever she is the fake gray hair to try and make her look older is ridiculous. The humor is that so many people like to rag on this being unrealistic but those same people gobble up the woke quota shit that is unrealistic as fuck and say thank you can I have more please. People watched it for the same reason they watched The A-Team or Knight Rider... they just wanted to piss away some time being entertained. Clearly you've been brainwashed by the quota pushers in the media. If you went by what you see in movies the black population would be 2 or 3 times what it actually is. The truth is the blacks in the US have been declining steadily and will continue to decline. I can usually let one preposterous concept slide and accept it may be the requirement to start a story. The problem is this thing just goes down from there. The casting is nutty as fuck and just screams woke quota. For once I would like to see a show have some casting that is realistic. Someone high in the White house isn't going to be a 20 something that looks like she just left the sorority. And if you have a white family don't throw in some Tongan niece because it doesn't make any fucking sense. It is pretty much every minority character in the show is miscast as if they were just forced into a role to make a quota. Until the Rose character came in and the show took a bad turn. Then I stopped... Life is too short to finish a show just because you've started it, if it turns to shit just turn it off. I had no clue what the show was about or that it was based on a comic... but as I watched it I had a feeling the Rose character was one of those woke joke tokens, mostly because they didn't even cast a believable black actress in the part. You have a white mom and a light skinned black dad, you don't get a dark black daughter. When that pops out you know they weren't casting based on what the writer had in mind to begin with you are just getting actors to fulfill a quota and ignoring reality. Then I look up the comic and guess what, Rose was supposed to have been a white blond girl. And Netflix wonders why people don't watch their shit.... it insults the intelligence of the viewer. I'm just not sure why the writers turned Mable into a lesbo when they start with her basically pining after the dead guy. It doesn't matter which team she plays on but be consistent and don't have her jumping team for no reason at all it makes it look like they were just trying to placate woke folk. Lawrence has above average in her Hunger Games era... but she hasn't aged well. Hell when I first saw the trailer I didn't even recognize her to start with I just thought who's this ugly blonde. I thought it was just some cheap movie from some college students doing a film class. Extremely predictable, where the only unpredictable part was the part where the guy considered killing his own kid which made zero sense. And anyone with a brain knows that the only reason anyone bought those 2 albums is because John Lennon was on them. And if you looked at the way real history behind them you would know that the first and biggest selling one only took off after Lennon was killed. Had he not been murdered the odds are the first of those albums would have quickly sunk to obscurity and the second would have probably never existed as it was in large part unfinished Lennon work that would have best been left on the cutting room floor.
