I could see CITIZEN KANE being another "big bore" in your estimation -- so, if you've never seen it, DON'T; I think it's one of the best motion pictures of all time and I'm far from alone in that belief, but it isn't for everyone, especially those who prefer action movies. THE BIG COUNTRY is what used to be called ",a thinking man's movie." It's a character-driven story. Filled with nuances, metaphors and parallelisms which drive home many points about the best and worst of the human condition. I think you'd be better off watching straightforward action Westerns like RIO BRAVO (great oater, by the way) because everything you've said demonstrates the likelihood that the aforementioned "character-driven"-type films ain't your bag. It's called "acting" and "using common sense to suspend disbelief." Colman's role eventually ages into his character being perhaps a few older than himself. Most actors and actresses play characters older and younger than themselves. Respectfully advise you to either get over it or switch to reading books. And remember, Colman's character had endured the kind of wartime horror and trauma that would age anyone. Now, where do you get that the Greer Garson character starts in the story at "18?" Do you really think that an 18 year old girl could be the star attraction of a British music hall? The pilot who had hijacked the plane died, but not the passengers. George dies much later after losing his sanity and hurling himself down the frozen heights. Robert made his way back to civilization but then returned to Shangri-La in the end. So, no, I don't think "they all died in the plane crash landing" and nothing in the film suggests that they did. To the OP: 2 Peter 3:9: "For the Lord is not slack concerning his promise, but is long-suffering to usward; not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (KJV) I suggest you lose the hate attitude and adopt that of the God Whom you profess to believe in. vinidici, late of the now defunct IMDb message boards, at your service! :D Great to learn that this site has preserved many of the original threads and chats from the IMDb message boards. Because at last vengeance was meted out to Scar and because Ethan had already harbored reservations in his heart about killing Debbie should he ever find her. Remember, Ethan and Martin spent several years on their quest; so, Ethan had had plenty of time to think and rethink his objectives -- and with Scar now out of the equation, Ethan's blood lust was now satisfied.
