I know, that was so satisfying Lmao that's horrible but I wish moviechat had a laugh react Don't even put that in the universe. Can just imagine the marketing though, "In space, no one can hear you... SCREAM" True, but also feels too late for that. 3 was when they should've done that if they were going to. MAYBE 4. But now it's been so long, so many times. Plus, Ghost Face must be defeated. But she's gotten her happy ending, married to Mark and with kids. So it would also make no sense. I think in 7, Ghost Face will be really after Mark (opening kill?) and her kids. So it'll be about her protecting them. Ghost Face will likely get Mark and none of the kids because Hollywood. Plus, it seems clear that the original intent was for Sam to finally go dark and be Ghost Face in 7, which reinforces the 3-film rule for turning into Ghost Face, a la when they should've done it with Sidney if they were going to. Especially with 3 being so tied to Maureen's back story. Which makes me wonder what, if anything, they would've done with Sam and Tara's mom in 7. They'll flip the roles. Mark will die in the opening scene. Then, in a theme of being a better mother than she had, the rest of the movie will be about Sidney's motivation to protect her kids The CGI is already dated, happens quicker and quicker nowadays I'm in the middle. I enjoy the PT more than I don't. I'm generally of the belief that most movies are enjoyable if you just allow yourself to enjoy them. That doesn't mean they're *good,* there's a difference. But I've always liked PT. Certainly not as good as OT, but nothing ever can be. But sometimes it's just as popular to hate on something because it's new as it is to love it. It's like Schrodinger's Did They? In realistic adult terms, yes, they most certainly did. But, these movies, being geared PG, just give adults enough to fill in the blanks, so kids can believe it's all just at face value, like a fairy tale where the prince rescues princess sight-unseen and they immediately fall in love because destiny I think it was just different times, unfortunately. People were less inclined to get into others' business. Physical punishment was more accepted and overlooked. Not saying it's right, just the reality. I agree. I guess I still fantasize about Scream getting a proper finale. Which is also unlikely. And as long as Sidney's alive, it can happen again, so a finale would pretty much require her death, and potentially being Ghost Face to boot ^There's a difference. POC getting their turn and white people taking a bit of a back seat is not the extreme "hating on Whitey" that you take it to be. The white people are not being completely erased from the industry, or always caricatures. No one's barring the white actors from going to the premieres of their movies because they're held in whites-only theaters. There is room for everyone at the table. Fwiw, my viewpoint, I'm a white man, so it's not like I don't understand their plight. I guess being gay allows me to be more empathetic to others. Okay, I'm not denying there's a lot of wokeness everywhere and while I'm not generally bothered by it, yeah it can be annoying when it's just there for the sake of it. And there's no denying what else has been said here about there at least being a pattern. However. To play devil's advocate. Gale and Kirby are white, as are Sidney, Mark, Martha, and they all still have active character shields. The lead was a white girl for four movies and no one said anything of a white power agenda (not saying there was one, but nothing wrong with letting Latins and blacks have a turn as the narrative shifts). In the first four, most non-white characters died. And very few non-whites in 1 and 4. And in 5 and 6. Well it makes sense that Wes is white like his mom, and they're targeted for her past involvement. Makes sense Stu's nephew is white like him. I guess we can assume the Carpenter sisters favor their mother and the twins favor their father. Makes sense that Richie's family is white like him. So there are organic, built-in, in-story reasons for some of the whites on both sides to be of the race they are. And it's also nice to have a story where the people of color are just existing as people, and the story isn't about the tragedies and trials and tribulations they go through because of being their race. It's not *about* their race, so it's not about shoving race down our throats, they're just there as they are. Also Tony Revolori is of Guatemalen descent. Also Mindy wasn't even in the hospital for a day, she was there for about the duration of the final battle. I think Danny says something like "Mindy's on her way they couldn't stop her." And she mentions she's on good medications. Plus I'm sure she's got adrenaline. But yes, Chad especially surviving both times now is ridiculous. But, even since the original, these movies have traditionally allowed for at least one surprise/ridiculous survival. That said, if they manage to get the Core Four back for #7 somehow, I like them all fine enough, but they do need to truly change up the formula. Have Sam be the killer and/or die, and have at least one but preferably two of the others die. Yeah, I mean something more narratively solid, actual connections, not references. Ah well. Possible if they do a Season 6, it could connect to5 *and* one of the others, thusly connecting them all. And it doesn't really matter or detract from my enjoyment, just something I like. People vary, so I'm sure out there, somewhere, someone does that. I read an interview shortly after with the writers I believe. There was a reason behind it. I can't remember more detail at the moment, but at one point, in one of their schemes, Jimmy and Kim had doctored a video to make a wealthy father and son who were trying to get some land look awful for it, the dad was a real cowboy type, at least in his own mind. And it played prominently in the commercial, the dad had a similar drawling way of saying "Yep!" And so having Kim end up with this guy, was a form of punishment and a nod to that. The music was awesome in the first one, so then they leaned into it too much. Showed here more than in 2 though I've thought similarly. And maybe play it by ear more than plan an exact spot. If you plan way ahead, that gives anyone watching you time to figure it out. If you just go on the lam at a moment's notice, a bit harder to find Yeah. It sounds like you researched it so I won't overexplain it to you. If I'm wrong and you haven't, go ahead. I agree with your thoughts. Definitely needs more time to settle. I hadn't really considered this being a PR stunt, but that's a definite possibility. They definitely have enough surviving characters that they can afford to bench some for a movie and focus on them in a later installment. I don't want to think of it as spin-offs or a "universe" though. For sure just speculation. Scream 7 is such a mess right now, 8 won't be confirmed for quite some time, so it's all just speculation for a long while. They're trying, but Melissa Barrera was not receptive I think it was just a throwaway line meant to highlight how people are so quick to blame "wokeness" for things now and you're reading too much into it. It was a story decision and Harrison Ford had wanted Han to die in Return of the Jedi. Doubtful. Kelly seems like the type where she and all her friends get nice brand new cars for their sweet 16s. Even if Sandra overlooked it, seems like Kelly would ask and then Sandra would just to keep her happy. I realize it was just a shortcut for Kelly to get a ride home from Sam and the writers probably didn't think I'd overthink it. Honestly even if they said Kelly had a car and it was in the shop or something, it would still just seem odd that Sandra didn't make other arrangements. And why would Kelly rely on a faculty member instead of a friend? Ultimately just odd is all.
