More than an editor, he needs to divorce himself from the casting process and get a real, impartial casting director to find SOMEONE who actually FITS the roles he's putting in the movie, instead of trying to just cast his boy Leonardo DiCaprio in EVERY freakin' movie he makes now. It's getting so bad (Leo IS... King Louis XIV/Howard Hughes/J. Edgar Hoover/Teddy Roosevelt/ H.H. Holmes/The Joker/ Frank Sinatra/Jesus Christ...) that Rob Zombie casting his wife in EVERYTHING seems suitable and low-key in comparison. Kurtzman Trek is a "huge success", right Drekkies? Right. That's why SJWs are trying to cancel a season 1 episode of TNG by complaining it uses "racial stereotypes" and it "offensive". And let's not forget how Captain Pike "couldn't get used to having a woman on the bridge" during The Cage. Soooo progressive and forward-thinking! If the films are good and audiences LIKE them, they'll make money at the box office. Dune Part 2 was released in theaters around the same time as The American Society as Magical Negros (March 2024). Dune has made nearly $700 million, while American Society has made only $2 million! That's because Dune is EPIC while American Society is unfunny trash. As for "Bros", Top Gun: Maverick was in theaters at the same time in 2022. Read the box office numbers for both. Yeah yeah yeah... same excuse they used LAST summer when The Little Mermaid remake, The Flash, Indiana Jones 5, etc., etc., kept flopping spectacularly when they were supposed to be summer "tentpole" movies and HUGE blockbusters for the studio. "Well, it's certainly NOT the movie's fault, audiences just don't go to theaters anymore after streaming and Covid-19... blah blah blah..." THEN movies like The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Barbieheimer came along, EASILY made OVER a BILLION dollars at the box office, and put the "audiences just don't go to theaters anymore" theory to rest. But you guys keep trying to beat that dead horse. That would have been their lone GOOD episode, if he leapt into the makers of this crapfest and "put right what once went wrong" by preventing the Quantum Woke series from being aired in the FIRST place. The show's been cancelled now. Great job insulting anyone who CORRECTLY complained about the forced pandering in this crapfest! Brilliant strategy there, drive away viewers in droves. >>That's not meant to be an insult...<< Yes it is. SJWs LOVE to sneer at ANY iconic television series, and claim they are "outdated" and "weren't diverse enough" because half the characters weren't gay disabled Muslims. Well, the last laugh is on you, because the show you scoffed at lasted FIVE seasons, and this turdfest only lasted TWO! Well, the general public sure didn't.... they stayed away in droves. >> The American Society of Magical Negroes was better at pushing the agenda that whites are evil. Whites held slaves, not Jews. << The irony is the same crowd pushing this type of movie are the types who want us to believe all the ancient Egyptians were somehow black, even Cleopatra (who was 100% ethnic Greek ancestry, but somehow we should pretend she's black and demand black actresses play her) If we go by their OWN premise, then it would have been blacks enslaving the white Jews to build the pyramids, and therefore THEY'D have to apologize to white people FOR enslaving them. But, of course, logic is beyond their deranged mentality. WOO HOO! So much for how "good" the woke revival was. Glad it was cancelled before they talked Scott Bakula into making a guest appearance and ruining his character from the REAL show. Now Radcliffe HIMSELF is getting a dose of his own medicine! Anthony Mackie is going off on Radcliffe for starring in the "racist" Harry Potter franchise when there were no major black characters at Hogwarts. Why didn't Radcliffe "fight" for more minorities and inclusion, but happily agree to scripts when Harry had "no black friends"? Karma in action! Doesn't feel too good when the shoe is on the other foot, does it, Danny boy? Reminds me of Asia Argento championing the #metoo stuff for years, then getting cancelled BY it, after Jimmy Bennett accused HER of being a sexual predator. What goes around, comes around! I didn't think it was "terrible", just mediocre. The character of Egon's granddaughter single-handily raised the film's overall quality from 3/10 to 7/10 for me. Without her, it was pretty much a soulless (no pun intended) copy of the original 1984 movie. Mel Gibson IS Max Rockatansky & Martin Riggs, just like Sylvester Stallone IS Rocky Balboa & John Rambo, and Harrison Ford IS Han Solo & Indiana Jones. Those are ICONIC 80s action heroes and those actors became "A listers" BECAUSE of those breakout roles. You can't simply dump the actor and randomly cast some younger guy who doesn't even LOOK like the character, let alone have the charisma and bad-assness of the original actor. It's precisely why I have zero interest in seeing Fury Road or Solo: A Star Wars Story. And I would likewise skip a Col. Trautman: A Rambo Story with Nicholas Hoult as "John Rambo" or Rocky: The Italian Stallion with Finn Wolfhard as "Rocky Balboa". Loved Beyond Thunderdome, but I'm not interested in Fury Road. I agree that Anya Taylor-Joy with her widely set eyes looks nothing like Charlize Theron Sort of like how Tom Hardy with his tire-tread lips looks nothing like Mel Gibson. George Miller is a talented director, but casting people who are believable as "younger" versions of the same character isn't among his talents! Beyond Thunderdome was the PERFECT ending for the Mad Max TRILOGY and brought the events full circle. It did not need a belated fourth film 30 years later, let alone one WITHOUT Mel Gibson. Two men enter, one man leaves! Star Trek Enterprise established that there is a sub-race of Andorians called the Aenar that are born blind (not to mention Andorians have been part of the UFP since their inception), so Hemmer might have been the ONE "new" character that worked perfectly, IF SNW hadn't screwed that up by putting him in the show solely so could pat themselves on the back for having a real life blind guy play him. Conservative film critics would give a positive review to the movie IF it were actually funny, regardless of whether they actually agree with the subject matter or premise. For example, Armond White is a conservative film critic for the National Review, and does not support the LGBTQ agenda, but has given favorable reviews to films about same-sex couples like God's Own Country, and Summer of '85, because the characters were well written and the story was interesting and believable. He also gave a favorable review to I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, because it was actually funny, while he gave a negative review to "Bros", because it was NOT! The irony is NONE of the characters from the PIKE era crew (when the show is SUPPOSEDLY taking place) have shown up, aside from the trio they imported from STD. No Dr. Boyce, Yeoman Colt, Lt. Tyler, etc., etc.
