"He's just a beekeeper"........ [Spoilers] 2:15 Run? (Haters: Door is that way >> ) [Spoilers] Just saw this last night and have a question. Haters need not apply. Did the actors really know if R. Lee Ermey was going to slap/hit them? Was there ever an explanation about the Black SUV & Picture Memorial? [Spoilers possible] Don't waste your time [Spoiler] About opening sequence question [Spoiler] View all posts >

.........did most of these people deserve such a punishment at all? Yes, yes they did, you saw the wads of cash they were to receive for the role they played when she was stuffing the cash in the bag with their names on it right? They scammed John out of 250K for a hope at living, they deserved to die in the most horrific way. In general, anyone who prays on people like this deserve summary execution no matter what part they play... you're knowingly in on it, you die. Bleeding hearts need not apply. Thanks for the feedback, still holds up today, RIP R. Lee Ermey. Sure, if he wasn't a corpse. In the late 80's, this movie was a worse case of where things were going at the time. There was no tech like we have today, people actually got a punch in the mouth for saying something janky to someone else. This was an example of complacency of when people just let things unfold with no consequences to people’s actions. At the time gangs were a real thing and in some areas almost mob like where you would have been seriously cut, hurt, or even killed. This movie was not meant to be a comedy but a look at what could happen in some of the worst school systems in the USA's cities. The Bronx comes to mind back then as one of the worst with many other mentionable cities at that time. Jim Belushi of course was cast as a bad ass....but he still had his comedy roots strongly intact back then...so it was both a dark and "funny" flick at the same time. I will say this as I've said to people around me and on other forums.... you cannot judge a movie like this by today's metrics....you just can't...the social structures, rules, and basic behavior has radically changed since this movie was released. Many ideologies have changed, viewpoints, vernacular and socially accepted practices. The movie is what it is...and at the time...is was a great and powerful movie. I saw it when I was 15 years old when it was released...watched multiple times over my lifetime...even watching it today...with today’s Facebook/twitter/Instagram overlayed onto my life can immediately teleport back to that timeframe and recall all the emotions that this movie evoked. The movie was completely visceral with the clean up the trash of that generation and to finally put the foot down on that type of behavior... and many who grew up in that time frame can squarely relate. On a side note: Remember National lampoon's vacation when they ask for directions in the "ghetto"? When they left, the car was jacked and picked by the same "type" of people the principal represents. It's a popcorn flick. Enjoy. I think I sorted out where my original question came from. When he was doing the Mach 10 run, and Harris says you got balls stick jockey, the wall of screens showed Mavericks face via camera in the cockpit before it hits 10.4 and explodes. I was "expecting" the same type of feedback during the training runs, but I guess it had two different feedback mechanisms. Not a big deal, but would have been cool to show Mavs face when he made the run an "what it took" to do that job...and with 15 seconds less than what they were expected to do. If you can't be the cream in the Oreo(s) because they are not interested, then what is the point? I'm certainly not gay, but if a buncha chicks are not interested in a sausage in the mix being turned on just makes it worse....again...not gay...but I see your point. Agreed, that was the right response... But the little voice in the back of my head still asks the real question....head to head... who really is Top Gun? If you use this film as the fast forward vs. just the 1986... I'd say it splits between the 2 of them in 1986. In 2022, Mav all the way... where as, a skill like dog fighting needs to consistently be honed and practiced... like a sniper......in my humble opinion. Yes, I think that makes perfect sense. I found it compelling when he explained that to Penny, that Rooster should hate on him only and not putting the mother in a negative light for whom he promised to help protect her son, or at least that is what I got out of it. Thanks for the dialog. :) I went back to view it again and everyone is right, it certainly is the seatbelt end. So I guess the other half of my question was that he was apologizing to Goose because he would be responsible for his sons death too? Overall I really enjoyed the movie. Seems to be a mixed reaction...but I grew up on the first....that they did a good job with the movie and content of 30 years passing. Yes, for the most part that is correct, many retire and travel. If you take a look at the price point on them, they are very expensive depending on what length and model you choose, so many in the younger generations will not be able to afford them as they are trying to buy a 1st house, kids, and life in general etc. I was 47 when I bought mine as I'm in a fortunate position to be able to do so. I've been to England about 25 years ago, beautiful landscape and architecture. Would the police rob me and leave to be die in the cold... ;)..... LOL. View all replies >
