I agree that was pretty convenient. Killing one walker, even an uparmored one, shouldn't be the deciding factor on if these folks are bad ass warriors, especially if the guy dies from getting tetanus in the process, anyway. You would think that the main cast group getting taken so easily would be better evidence in the other direction.
