Same opinion as Taffybird. They were NOT literally the last men standing. The change in the background to make it seem "unreal" is one clue. To them, there was no other battle going on around them.
I am a woman, who yeah I really wanted to know how it went down when Claire had the baby. The time jump at the end of last season (with Brianna being an adult) made me wonder if we'd ever actually SEE what happened shortly after she returned. So I was glad to see it.
Did you not hear the giant bomb they dropped when Kirkman's wife came home and he asked her if her mother was proud of him being president? And her answer was something like "well you know her, she's Russian"
They are throwing out alot of conspiracy stuff. Did you catch when Kirkman wife said "remember, my mother's Russian". That was out of the blue.
But here's a theory about the ex-Pres. That maybe the conspirators got to him with the promise that because of the state of emergency that they would somehow waive the 2-terms-only law so that he can be president again.

Just when I think this show couldn't get any better... then this happens.
From beginning to end, this episode was superb. The two men are amazing actors (this episode needs to be sent in for the Emmy's). The flashback stories, the music, Randall holding his father's face in his hands, the damn ducks.....
I am wrecked for the rest of the day
