In an interview published last weekend, Selleck said that would have signed a multi-year contract, but the network was only offering one year deals. Agreed. And there are some posters from the old IMDB boards who I really enjoyed (even the ones I thought were nuts) and they don't seem to have made the jump over here. Agreed! I can't stand the way she speaks. For those who may not have seen it, the cast spoke about their reactions to Amy Carlson's decision to leave at last night's Paleyfest NY: http://ew.com/tv/2017/10/17/blue-bloods-cast-reacts-amy-carlson-exit/ Well, here's the thing - Esposito left mid season. Carlson notified the producers that she was not renewing her contract after the 7th season had wrapped up. She was filming another project by the time Blue Bloods went back into production for season 8. I guess that when an actor's contract is up and they decline to renew, that's it for their character. In a way, though, the manner in which they announced her death - a disclosure 35 minutes into the episode - was more powerful because of the sudden shock. I don't think Linda's death would have hit viewers so hard if they had announced it (or shown it) up front and everyone knew it was coming. The focus is on Danny's emotional wreckage four months after the death. Donnie Wahlberg is not my favorite actor on the show, but I thought he did a masterful job last night. His pain was palpable. The previous posts were made 8 months ago and they refer to the IMDB message board, which was about to be deleted. These conversations migrated over from the now-defunct board. You could watch on Friday nights and it wouldn't affect the ratings one iota. The only homes that are counted in ratings are those households that report their viewing to Nielsen directly. If you're not a Nielsen participant, with a set meter or diary, they don't know what you're watching. From the CBS description of the season finale: " ...and Mayor Poole (David Ramsey) confides in Frank (Tom Selleck) that he has unexpected plans." Probably not this season, as she eases her way back from maternity leave. View all replies >
