Picking nits here, but Scarlett didn't own any slaves. The Civil War happened before she had any opportunity to acquire any (which I'm sure she would have). As far as slapping Prissy, Prissy really did had it coming. She misled Scarlett to believe that she could deliver a baby when she couldn't and as a result of her lie put Melanie and Melanie's child's life in extreme danger. Given her bit of a temper and bossiness over her siblings, I believe Scarlett would have slapped her own sister under those same circumstances.

Who (besides you) is saying they can't? Dave is saving money for a new house, and for now at least, he's hitching a ride to work where he works for George at the company where George is boss. Linda for now is taking a bus to work but her boyfriend drives them around otherwise. She's considering buying a yellow Mustang convertible.

What's so unusual? Dave is fresh out of college and just got his first real job at his dad's company. He's saving for his first house. I lived with my parents until the day I got married at 26. I saved enough money to put a substantial down payment on our first multi-family that my wife and I originally lived in.

Well, Marty doesn't have a "car", he has a 4X4 truck (assuming we're going to be generous and call the Toyota a "truck"). So when he said the car was wrecked, the only logical vehicle he could have meant was the BMW.

According to what I've read, the amount she brought into the country is commensurate with the sentence she received.
Now, I also believe that under other circumstances, as a "celebrity", they would have tossed her and her weed out of the country, but she's also clearly being used for political gain at this point.

In a way Green Mile offers hope of reclamation to those who committed sins. As Bitterbuck wondered, perhaps if a person was *truly* sorry for what they did, they might be forgiven. Del seemed repentant and even said he wished he had met Paul and the others when he was younger - perhaps his life would have gone differentlly.

Maybe, but for how long? Humans would eventually rebuild the grid if they could manage to survive the loss of power long enough. Besides, eliminating electricity would be a horrible death for billions of innocent humans. How would water be pumped and food be grown and transported? Anarchy would result with humans turning into small pockets of violent roving tribes killing for anything to survive.

There would be no "aggressee" except for the peaceful planets in the peaceful federation of which Klaatu spoke.. Klaatu's message was pretty simple to understand and very undemanding of humanity - He clearly stated that he didn't care what humans did on Earth or to each other. His only concern was preventing humans from [b]exporting[/b] their aggression to other peaceful planets. If Earth exported its aggression, it would be the aggressor and the aggressor would be turned into a burned out cinder.
I think he's trolling and trying to be funny, but I think he doesn't get humor, sarcasm, irony, etc. I honestly believe he's on the spectrum.

She was truthful because this is fiction and the writer(s) wrote her that way. If this was a true story based on a retold story from a survivor, one could question the veracity of the story, but not with fiction unless it's written that way.
Rose said that she heard Cal killed himself after the crash of '29, which made sense. A lot of people went from independently wealthy to broke overnight, and a lot of men in Cal's situation jumped from their highrise offices to the sidewalk, so that rings true.
No chance he gets pardoned nor should he.
Pretty sure he's got no pension. Cops (and other public hirees) fired for reasons pertaining directly to their performance lose their pensions.
I try to be open minded Dave, but I simply don't believe it's possible. As I said in my post -

I sometimes think about the old days and wonder about the "frigid" women who didn't like sex with their husbands. I honestly believe there were many women who married, had kids, lived a good life, and went to their graves never admitting to themselves they were gay - possibly for religious reasons and I'm sure there were many gay men who married women. Back in the old days, it was just such a social taboo to be gay.
