... Or something else... Because it's the other way around. It means "bravo", "good (for me/him)". Destiny or free will? Are our hands tied together or can we decide our future? I have been thinking about this for many years and in university my friends and I would debate endlessly. I still don't have an answer (neither to "what is the meaning of life?" d'oh! :), but this is what I believe: There are some important, crucial points in our lives that we cannot avoid. We can take different paths, choose left from right, but in the end we will end up in the same place. There's a lot to talk about this, but to answer your question 1. She can decide to have the baby, like the guy above me said, for the joy and happiness she will have with her daughter and for the kid's happiness as well. Even it's only for 16 years, who gives you the right to take the beauties of life away from a child? We are all going to die. Could happen tomorrow or in 2 years or in 20 years. Does anybody kill themselves because of this? People diagnosed with cancer struggle for every sunrise they can get, for a little more time to stay with the loves ones, to listen to a song, to watch the sea, probably because every second of life is precious? 2. She can decide not to have the baby, so she leaves the man. She alters the future. From now on, she doesn't know what will happen. Years later, she meets another man and has a child. What if, just what if, that child still gets cancer when 16? Maybe that's her child's destiny, no matter who the father is... Or maybe a child with another man will be safe. Who knows? If you get sick or break a bone, none of these matters. Today people live until they're 70 - 80 and we are more than 7 billion. And everything happened in the last 100 years, with the discovery of medicines. You could have food to last for 20 years, if something happens to your health, you're done. For someone who doesn't like him, knowing he studied at Eton is quite a surprise... The suicide theory (2014) Nice twist at the end. It's beautiful and really emotional. Can't believe how great that horse was trained to act the right way. Amazing! Please see it if you have a chance. You won't regret it! Can't you look it up on the net and see it online? Is this illegal where you live? War Horse. Cried my eyes out multiple times during the movie. But I cry at cartoons, too, so I'm not reliable :) edit: now that I think about it, many of Spielberg movies have no love interest: Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, ET, Hook, Jurassic Park, Schinder's List, War of the Worlds... Btw, guys, has anybody seen Empire of the Sun? Couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw that Christian Bale as a kid is in it. I lost it when the skeleton got up from the fire... but, oddly enough, instead of pushing me away, I kept coming back and waching the VHS tape... for the story, Reece didn't tell me anything :) It's weird that Cameron, as a man, creates strong female characters, just like Sidney Sheldon in his books. Sarah, Mace, the girl in Avatar, Rose, even Arnie's wife in True Lies who ends up becoming a spy... I very curious about the Terminator reboot he wants to do after he gets his rights back (next year? can't remember exactly...) I live in Eastern Europe. For us, it's last Sunday. What a surprise, we're a few steps behind you even when it comes to time change :p I'm completely obssessed with the theme ;) But I must admit I like T2 better than the first one. I was blown away the first time I saw it, a 12 years old kid living in a former comunist country... you can't imagine. Besides, T1 scared the crap out of me, I was younger and I remember going to bed and being very carefull to cover myself with the blanket to protect me, like it was made of iron or smth :) View all replies >
