Finally got around to seeing Children of Earth
Is it just me, or is the music extremely over done in this movie?

Agreed on all points. The must insulting part for me, is dropping the torch of what Star Trek is. If you're not gonna make a Star Trek show, why even put the name on it. Maybe people would like the show better if it was it's own thing, instead of pretending it somehow fits into the greater Star Trek universe when it very clearly does not.
I quit around episode 6. If I hear that it improves later down the line, I'll pick it up after this first season. But I'm not gonna waste my time hate watching it, when there are so many other great shows on right now. Not to mention I'm mainlining TNG again, so I'm already scratching that Star Trek itch.
Agreed, that moment when the doc saw an old patient was good. Sadly that was the only part I thought was a little clever. Everything else was painfully dull and unoriginal. Such a shame, following that awesome first one!
I would say Creature From the Black Lagoon is my favorite, but Frankenstein and this constantly bounce around for second place. I would be more inclined to rewatch The Invisible Man over Frankenstein, but both are great films.
I really hope the new one will keep in a similar tone to this one, and not go off into a completely different direction like The Mummy (2017). Not interested in that film much at all...although I'll probably still see it, cause I see way too many movies. :p
Agreed, definitely hope it makes a lot of money so studios take more chances with weird projects like this.
The audience I saw it with seemed really happy with it as I was walking out, and it was a packed theater. So there is certainly wide appeal for it. Definitely one of the more strange studio films I've seen recently, though.

Eh I disagree. I didn't love the ending, but I definitely don't think it ruined the movie.
I would have been more satisfied if they had managed to get Chris and instead his friend tracked down the place at a later time and found him like the others. But I don't think the film would be as pleasing to general audiences. People wanted to see Chris kill the f*ck out of those people, and the packed theater I was in were loving his revenge scenes.
They also loved the humor. I wasn't totally onboard with the comic relief (at least not all the time, he did have some funny moments), but the theater was laughing a whole lot when that character was on screen.
I wish the ending had been stronger, but I'm not against the one we got either. Overall I quite liked the film.
I went to go see it last night, and thought it was a very good horror flick. Not really cause it was overly scary, but the concept, the visuals, the acting, all across the board were quite well done.
But 100% is a pretty strange stretch. Definitely feels like that political element has biased the reviews.
Still though, really cool flick. Could see it sitting comfortably with an 82% or even as high as like an 86. But 100?
