First few minutes in.. that father! LOL!

I don't watch Lifetime movies, but I said what the heck, let's give this a chance. His daughter is obviously a bookworm, and I say that in a complimentary way, but she didn't get accepted into the college of her choice. The father found out she didn't get accepted and acted like it was the end of the world. He thought he gave her opportunities to "make something of herself" and because she didn't get into this college, he failed. When the writers wrote this script, did they fashion this man from another universe? In this world, what parent would be disappointed in a smart child who didn't get into a particular college? We're not talking about a slacker. She was immediately presented to us on screen as a hard worker, smart and about to be valedictorian of her school. We discover all that in the first 10 minutes. Then in the next 5 minutes, you see the Dad all disappointed in her as if she's a slacker as if there isn't any other college to go to. What's ridiculous with this script is that the father wasn't presented as some smug, privileged, and demanding person who only expects the best. If he was presented that way, then I can understand how such a parent can be disappointed even with a straight-A child. But no, he was presented as normal person who had a rough upbringing and didn't have the same opportunities. In the scene, the audience is fooled into thinking maybe something happened to the mom because he was sitting at the dinner all sad and waiting for his daughter. Then his first words... "Where did I go wrong?" He was being a dama mama and said he failed. Apparantly in this world, there is only 1 college you can go to and she didn't get in. Now he acts like he's going to go hang himself. I don't think there has ever been a movie where I only watched 15 minutes or so, but wrote about it this much. LOL! I understand now why lifetime movies are punchlines to jokes. Never again lifetime!
