I'm not sure what i"m watching here...

If it was trying to show how people made it in Hollywood after WW2, then it's not very truthful. If it's trying to show a fantasy of how easy it was to make it in Hollywood after WW2, then it shouldn't be showing Rock Hudson (who was real). It's both fan-fiction and non-fiction, but it can't work that way when it's showing Asians in a place of high authority, a black screenwriter crushing it, gays being accepted in public, etc.

The production values are nice and there is some inspired casting going on. I just think it needed to settle on something instead of trying to be everything. I'd love to have seen a real showing of how sleazy Hollywood was during the glam years through the eyes of a young Rock Hudson and Dorothy Dandridge.

Its alternative history, not suppose to be taken as a documentary.

I know what I’m NOT watching, and that’s this bungle, another McSeries pushed out by Netflix. I looked at it because Samara Weaving is supposed to be in the cast. Saw the first episode of dull, formulaic crud. Won’t see any more.

And, seriously, “alternative history”?! We are not living in a comic book. The word “fiction” has fewer syllables than “alternative history.” Sheesh.

This is such a snobbish comment..

It’s not snobbish.

It’s elitist.

It's tries to have it too many ways at once and in that hardly ever feels believable or anything other than some masturbatory fantasy. This is not how you write compelling television.

From what I read, there's a stand-in for infamous pimp Scotty Bowers. Now that would be a worthwhile series.

Good production and most acting is quite good. I liked it much better when they finally took a break with all sexuality. I GET it, I'm not a prude, but first 3-4 episodes non stop. When they got to making the movie "Meg" it hit its stride and was quite good.

I also lost interest when I realized it was a fantasy/what if scenario. Too bad because It had the potential to be great.

I really like it. I've watched 3 episodes so far and it's really fun and interesting to watch. I hope it stays good for the rest of the episodes.

Yes but.... it's like Once upon a time... in Hollywood! with the character of Rick Dalton (Tarantino actually does it often). It's fiction in a true setting. It's an interesting approach. I don't get te problem people have with this. It's alternative history, it has some beauty to it because you can rely to the real world and see the "what if" scenario.
