I'm not sure what i"m watching here...
If it was trying to show how people made it in Hollywood after WW2, then it's not very truthful. If it's trying to show a fantasy of how easy it was to make it in Hollywood after WW2, then it shouldn't be showing Rock Hudson (who was real). It's both fan-fiction and non-fiction, but it can't work that way when it's showing Asians in a place of high authority, a black screenwriter crushing it, gays being accepted in public, etc.
The production values are nice and there is some inspired casting going on. I just think it needed to settle on something instead of trying to be everything. I'd love to have seen a real showing of how sleazy Hollywood was during the glam years through the eyes of a young Rock Hudson and Dorothy Dandridge.
