30 years

Immediately leaving Earth, it's established that when they go into their faster than light travel/hyper drive, they stopped, and it was said 30 years had gone by on the Earth in that instance. They are the second ship to leave, does that mean the first ship that already left Earth and used it's hyper drive, went ahead 30 years before the current ship?
