for a moment there I thought that... (minor spoilers)

... since Moishe won so much money, he wouldn't be going back to the community either. Now wouldn't that have been something! 😄

On a serious note though, the first neighborhood in Brooklyn we ended up in when our family first immigrated to the US was a Lubavitcher Hasidic one, and my mother worked there as a seamstress in a tailor shop. They were once making a wedding dress for a young Satmar girl, around 17 - the girl looked really miserable on all her visits, and at some point just broke down in tears... Her mother tried to cover it up with saying "oh, she is just tired", but of course everybody knew the truth.

I thought Moishe was going to make a break for it, too. Perhaps he doesn't need to since he can have it both ways. He can live within the community while breaking its rules like using the smartphone and gambling.

He sleeps around, too.

I fail to see the advantages of staying in the community, though.

Family, friends and community support. I had the impression he was married and had kids, but wasn't allowed to see them until he made amends.
