A door to a little known community

This film shines a little on a community that we very rarely see in American films. A community of people who live a nomadic lifestyle. Fern, the main character, has embraced this lifestyle due to economic circumstances and family tragedy.

We discover that Fern always had a restless spirit, as expressed by her sister when he visits her. Marriage only anchored her for a short while. Fern is totally at home when she is on the road travelling across America. This film reminds me of the Harrison Ford thriller, Witness, another depiction of a community that rejected the American mainstream.

It's pretty good. I can see why it's lauded. Quite the insight in what happens when you misstep on the curb.

Maybe not in film, but if you spend time on youtube it's possible to know quite a lot about it already. The film struck me as old news.
