Did anyone else find it hard to like Ray?

I don't like that he doesn't take responsibility for his actions. Scott may have started the fight, but Ray did not act like the bigger person. He throws him in the pool and then lies to his mother saying he never met Scott's father only for him to reveal to Scott that his father was an asshole. And then when Scott's mother gets mad at both of them, he goes and blames Scott for it all. I do agree with Scott in that it's pretty lame for his mother to want to end up with another firefighter after what happened with his dad.

Wouldn't it have been a faux pas to start dating the widow of a "legend" in the firefighting unit anyway?

That's beside the fact that Ray seemed opportunistic to the fact that she was a widow as well.

Yeah that's what I mean. Calling Scott's father an asshole was wrong.

I agree with all you say. But, I'm glad Ray had those flaws. I wouldn't tolerate a movie about an adult who is never wrong and how he gets a kid/younger guy to roll over and show his belly.
