Is this movie very subject heavy?

As in, throughout the whole running time and very seriously, does it deal with sexual abuse? Not saying such an approach is wrong or anything but how is it?

And also besides how bad the aforementioned issue is and what consequences it has, does this movie have any other messages to it?

Cheers.

reply

Heavy? Yes. Sexual assault, victim-blaming, suicide.

Messages? Nothing new to learn, but it does try to point out the ignorance and hypocrisy that society has on dealing with sexual assault victims.

So, quite emotional then on that front.

One thing I have to say for sure, and its not in and of itself a "good" or "a bad" thing, its just the way it is, a fact of life but...

Like it or not, or even understand it or not (yes, I and most rational people would prefer that we could at least acknowledge and accept it), this subject matter, sexual abuse, really does seem to, and even this board proves it...

... generate more controversy, emotional responses, arguments and often painful revelations than even murder (of innocents who don't deserve it mind you) and other forms of violence including physical ones and torture.

And I wonder if most people can at least understand why.

I also notice that in today's age, no matter what side one is on, a matter like this practically leaves no one indifferent and to the side. And everyone seems to have something to say. At times people do make facts up and look the other way and it is unfortunate. And besides the obvious correct answer that it should not be happening in the first place, and I agree, there seems to be no one solution to not only eradicate the matter, but maybe even make it easier to handle and to prosecute the offending parties and whatnot. So its a complex issue as well as a tragedy and as well as a sensitive issue and as well as a grave wrong.
