Will an atheist enjoy this series?

Is it well made? Well acted? Does it feel historically believable? Is it entertaining even if you don't believe in Christianity (and aren't going to believe in it)?

I was thinking about giving this series a look but it seems that most of the people I see speaking highly of it are (unsurprisingly, obviously) Christians. Which is fine, of course, nothing against their perspective, but it's like seeing a review of Barack Obama as written by CNN or a review of Reagan by FOX News. I.e., even if it's unbiased... I'm kinda suspicious of bias.

For anyone who isn't religious that's seen this, did you enjoy it as just a normal, fictional series? Is it worth a watch?

I went in skeptical and was pleasantly surprised. I think they did a good job of giving a different perspective of the bible characters. It makes them look very human and seems to get the look of the time right for the most part. I'm no expert of the era but I think they gave it a good effort. You will probably at least be entertained. I'd suggest giving the first few episodes a look. It's hard to explain why this is so compelling. They are not trying to sell you a painting, they are trying to tell a story and I think they did good with that.

I'm just two episodes into season 2 FWIW

I've heard some atheists say they enjoy it. The show does have a bit of a low budget feel, especially in the first four episodes, but that levels up.

The acting and writing is great. It makes for a good drama series even if you're just watching it as something you view as purely fictional.

Atheist enjoy it as a story because we're smart enough to know it's just a story.
