What A Strange, Unexpected, Imperfect And Delightful Movie

I am a sucker for the three heroes named in the title, so I tuned into this on tubi, ready to bail at the first moment. I stayed. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. I was prepared for the diversity to be forced. It wasn’t. I was prepared for the unknown kid actors to suck. They did anything but. I guess you could call this a family movie, but it is anything but saccharine and facile. There are times when it is very ugly (as in wanting to punch one of the characters on the screen) and times when it is very moving (as in tearing up), but it is, to me, ALWAYS surprising and rewarding. The three titular characters do show up and do their stuff, and work as a team when needed. The film has a very clear theme, which is delivered in an emotional thunderclap of a last line that ALMOST ranks with “MOTHER is the name for GOD on the lips and hearts of every child,” from The Crow.

The film is a low-budget indie venture. It’s not a comic book movie. It has sweetness and kindness and goodness, and it entertained me a lot. It’s currently on tubi, if you are interested.
