Does Candyman only kill white people in this movie?

Are they rural white or urban whites?

reply

Yes. They also turn him into more of an anti-hero and all the bad guys are white, especially the cops.

reply

YOU HAVE SEEN THE ORIGINAL,HAVEN'T YOU?🤔

reply

What’s your point? Candyman didn’t only kill white peoples in the original, numbskull.

It’s really telling that to spoon feed an audience a message about equality, the bad guy only kills white people, and all cops are white. So stupid. And to top it off the hilarious unintended message: white people are victims of violence by black people. In this regressive universe, the trigger fire cops make sense. Surely, that was not the intention.

YOU SOUND LIKE SOMEONE I DON'T LIKE...NO OFFENSE.🙂

Black and white people die in this movie. Whoever says his name five times in a mirror.

reply

Which black characters died? Not counting Candyman?

reply

The flashback sequence in the bathroom about 3/4 of the way through.

But there's still about a 15-1 disparity.

SPOILER

If I remember correctly, anyone who invokes the name conjures up candyman. But the rules aren't the same. It's not just the person who says his name. Anybody in the vicinity can get it lol! This candyman kills those who don't take him seriously and those who tease or are hateful to others. He is more vengeful than in other movies.

reply

He hates some spoiled white bitches too. That's for sure.

reply

The other answers here are wrong. Yes, he only kills white people. Even if black people say his name five times, the black person survives and whites who didn’t say his name are slaughtered.

They really screwed up the mythology of a great villain.

I only recall the main girl (the one with the ugly fake eyebrows) as a black person that summons him. And she's not killed, probably because she was benevolent to Anthony, who's the most recent soul to be added to the Candyman melting pot.
