Another anti-white SJW movie.

Read some reviews and it's another SJW BLM movie all about how racist white people are and how black people will always be doomed in a "racist" society. Pass!

i caught this yesterday, and liked it quite a bit for the most part. it's flawed, but it's got some great stuff in it.

and for the first 75 minutes or so, i thought it was a bit muddled and unclear in some things, but i would absolutely not say that it was heavy-handed or strident or anything like that.

but its ending absolutely is strident and heavy-handed, and in a way that was really unimaginative and unnecessary imo. it was an appeal to caricatures, a smearing of people.

that's kinda turned me against the film. the more i think about it, the more muddled and unlikable it feels to me.

still think it's a recommendable watch for all the good things in it. see it in a theatre on a big screen if you can. it's got some visual moments that i think just won't play the same way at home.

Finally, a film that tells us all how racist white people while showing us how wonderfully dignified black people are, when they aren't rioting and looting and raping and murdering.

reply

You should have just posted "im a racist" Less words to type.

reply

The movie is racist towards whites.

reply

Nope.

Have you not seen Candyman 2 (1995) ? You would likely say that falls into the same category. It gives the back story of how Candyman came to be. Old racist white men = bad, one young white girl and Candyman =good.

reply

WHAT reviews told you this ? Other whiny white boy wankers on this site? Don't kid yourself into believing you have a valid take on this movie- you haven't friggin seen it.

I don’t think that today, in times of tolerance, a situation is possible with the appearance of racist films on the big screen. It is rather a question of the interpretation of those who are familiar with the picture. Racism now has very thin lines. I want to share in this thread a link to the resource (https://eduzaurus.com/free-essay-samples/racial-profiling/) where a lot of scientific and educational material on this topic has been collected. So do not rush to judge strictly.

"Racism now has very thin lines."

No it doesn't. When using a hand signal that for the best part of a century has been used by divers to signal everything is OK, is now considered a white supremacist gesture, the lines of racism are all encompassing.

When saying Mrs Ghostbusters is a bad film, but people accuse you of racism because that particular film has an AA cast in one of the 4 lead roles, 'the thin line of racism' is about the entire circumference of the Earth wide.

reply

That just demonstrates that people are idiots, that people randomly scream "racist" at the slightly hint of...as you pointed out, sometimes nothing at all.

That doesn't mean that racism doesn't have thin lines. I think you jumped the gun in responding here.

Actual racism can be hard to actually delineate.

reply

Ah, maybe I misunderstood what he meant. ACTUAL racism is hard to discern. FAUX racism, where the term is bandied about at every opportunity, is what I thought he was talking about.

reply

I guess technically I could be mistaken too. Looking back at his post, it's vague as all hell.

I thought he was responding to the people who said this movie is racist against whites, so I thought that's where he was coming from, that it's super simplistic to just conclude that about the movie. It'd require a bit more deliberation.

Then again, I'm not entirely sure why he linked to racial profiling articles either, so *shrugs* haha
