Why does he have a bit of tape stuck on the back of his jacket?

As per the title, I'm up to episode 5 and I've noticed this a few times. Why is there a length of black duck tape stuck on the back of his jacket? Have I missed something?

That is from the cut from the knife attack. He put a piece of tape over it to keep wearing the jacket - it is an illustration of his thriftiness.
