Bad Editing in one part? (Spoilers)

After Jesse kills the welding guy, the other guy grabs a gun and looks like he fires 3 shots right at Jesse in point blank range before Jesse even fires one shot. It looked like the bullets were going right for Jesse. How did they miss??? Looks like bad editing to me. It's weird lol

Wild "fire in that direction" way...

Believe me, you can fire many and hit nothing.

Jesse and whats-his-face were focusing on eachother...

It was actually quite realistic. There was a gunfight between a suspect and cops not too long ago in my area and the guy unloaded his gun at two officers and missed but he was killed with multiple wounds to the mid torso as he was fleeing while shooting and the cops were stationary and focused.

But that guy looked literally 3 feet away from Jesse at most

reply

More like six feet away and he was aiming towards the head. Many times inexperienced criminals with guns will aim at the head thinking it's the clearest path to winning a gun battle but they don't realize the high attrition rate of lost bullets vs easier opportunity to win a gun battle by aiming for the mid torso.

In 2014 eight LA cops shot 103 rounds at two innocent women setting in the confined space of a small pickup. The women were hit with no more than about 2 rounds each, thankfully none fatal.

That other guy was all talk, probably not experienced in handling weapons and definitely not used to shooting at people. Remember he freaked out in Todd's apartment when the welder guy had him hold the gun when he tied Jesse up.

reply

Yeah, I agree that was a bad part; though it was the fault of the writing, not the editing. The idea that the two of them unload and no one hits anything was lame. Especially coming immediately after Jesse going full John Wick unloading perfect center mass shots, all from the hip. Then suddenly, the two of them can't land a shot. Kinda silly scene in general, the guy agreeing to a duel, etc. Still enjoyed the movie overall but that part was lazy and/or ill-conceived.

Jesse was switched to the old WW2 style .22mm gun that basically shot nothing fatal, that's why he went for the dead welder's gun. Blonde welder not hitting him once while Jessie was doing all that was ridiculous tho.

One of my friends is a cop, another is a small arms instructor. Separately, they have both described to me how hard it is to actually hit a target with a pistol. It's why cops are trained to go for centre-of-mass, and even then they often miss. Factor in nerves and movement and it's not surprising so many shots were exchanged without a hit.

As someone above posted, the red-headed dude was probably trying to go for a head shot. He didn't have time to aim either, just wild shots.

Rather than trying to aim to kill, it might have been smarter for the red-headed dude to go for a 'spray' pattern, but, in the moment, he was just shooting in desperation.
