Monica Rambeau

Is she annoying or what..

reply

I like her.

I liked her at first.. but she's starting to annoy me

Lt. Trouble annoying? Naaahhh!

I think her hero character arc is following a pretty standard pattern and she is doing a more than decent job acting through the events placed in front of her. (Her idolized parental figure dies, her Superhero idol appears to have abandoned her best friend and may even have had the power to save her Mom. She harbors a bitterness and has to struggle through her own grief but attempts to save another.)

Monica's ability to project empathy and stand by her convictions make her a pretty sympathetic character. I am interested in seeing how this series ends just to re-watch and see what kind of impact Monica really had on the episodes.

She got her powers by intentionally/stupidly going through dangerous nonsense for no logical reason without a plan and then immediately went head to head with Wanda...
Standard hero my foot 👣.
You mean standard mary sue.

Didnt tony stupidly attack thor in avengers 1? Didnt he stupidly go to titan to fight thanos even though he knew he was no match for him, or is it only a problem when women do it?.. she has been in the hex before and gained control of herself when she was in there so she felt she could go in again.

reply

Tony had two movies under his belt before he attacked Thor and the only reason he attacked him was Thor had just taken Loki. There was not time for him to sit back and decide the best plan. He also did not really know how strong Thor was.

As far as Thanos goes, Tony basically knew who Thanos was and what threat he meant for the world. I think it was also part of Tony's a character arc to learn to trust so going on it by himself was part of that.

Monica, just got her powers a few minutes before and knew that Wanda was even stronger than Thor. I think what Sagemaster is saying is that when the vehicle failed she should have tried to figure out a B plan instead of going right in.

or is it only a problem when women do it?

No, it is not. It is a problem when people, men or women, do things when they do not know their own power yet. We see it a lot of films/shows where the hero gets their powers and fails the first time using them. so it is not a man/woman thing.

reply

"He also did not really know how strong Thor was." but monica has been through the hex and survived. My point is if it had been someone like tony or cap they would be seen as heroes who make sacrifices.

reply

Ironman didn't escape the cave and go head to head with Thor minutes later

reply

Steve Rogers jumps on a hand grenade.
Tony Stark and Bruce Banner execute a snap of the Infinity Gauntlet.
Don Blake (Thor) challenges the Destroyer Armor.

Monica Rambeau goes back through the hex after surviving two trips and now it is "stupid"?

Their plans and objectives were to save lives.

Monica's plan was to contact and reason with Wanda and try to convince her to stop the madness. On her first and second trips through the Hex, Monica had made a connection and "felt" Wanda similar to the way Wanda and Vision were connected in Infinity Wars.

I was wondering how long before the Anti-Mary-Sue brigade appeared. Must be Friday and a female "doing" things was on the screen.

See how the rest risked death to directly save lives..
See how Monica risked death to talk to wanda because of feelings..
Not the same thing,

Exactly the same thing and by the way you're moving your own goalposts.

I thought it was all about NOT having a plan?

Monica had experienced some of the same trauma that Wanda was putting many of the residents through within WestView. Monica also thought that Director Hayward was going to launch an apparent fatal Military type assault against Wanda and therefore WestView, in order to retrieve the sentient weapon he believes belongs to him. In Wanda's emotional and psychological state, death would have happened or something far worse.

You honestly think this is just about "feelings"? Wanda is indeed experiencing "pain", "grief" and is "suffering".

She would have killed Thanos because of her "feelings", if not for his aerial attack.

If SWORD tries to forcibly take Vision. Well, luckily Monica is trying to prevent that from happening because she will try and connect with her "feelings".

I need an Agatha Harkness cackle just about now!

reply

Yeah they're making her into "super black woman who's right about everything". Also I'm not sure if it's her clothes but she seems to have an oddly shaped posterior.

As opposed to the extremely common "super white guy who's right about everything" that's been a staple of TV and movies since forever?

reply

A strong character that is different than what I am?! Preposterous! Oh how I cannot stand to see such a thing!

reply

Tony has admitted his fuck ups this entire series. It's what motivates him to save and help people; unlike say Cap...who is never wrong.

This is the one topic I REALLY wanted to stay out of and ignore. It is petty, small, mean-spirited and a tad sexist.

BUTT,

Teyonah Parris is 5ft 5in and Elizabeth Olsen is 5ft 6in. There needs to be some butt leveling between the two. Or maybe some lower body leveling. Monica is one thicc woman from the waist down. https://bglh-marketplace.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Screen-Shot-2016-07-19-at-6.12.08-PM-600x859.png She is beautiful and fine with explosive thighs and hips.

Did I say she is beautiful? She is. She is also a different body type with both a Butt and Hips. She reminds me of a young Chaka Khan (5ft 4 in) also knows as Ms Lips and Hips. 😍

For reference, between Olsen and Larson, the faux outrage over doctored and hyped photos of Larson's alleged lack of a posterior one need only go back and look at the scenes of Olsen in WandaVision. There is very little junk in her trunk while Brie is toned, firm and quite round.

When Parris was introduced on stage I couldn't help but notice, 1.) How short she appeared and 2.) WOW was she Thic from the waist down.

Oh my. I think I have been triggered. 😎

reply

I do not see that at all.

reply

I like her but she seems to have a background (sadness about not being their for her mom, anger at Captain Marvel for not saving her mom) that we can work with but is basically being used as a plot device.

reply

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan. The whole never being wrong thing doesn't exactly make her appealing. A little too Captain America esque in that sense.

I'm also not too happy with the "i HAvE tO HeLp WAndA" crap. There's thousands of people suffering and it's all about Wanda.

reply

Exactly....

reply

In the comics she has no connection to wanda, vision or Captain Marvel in her orgin. She didn't come from a single mommy either, her father was her hero. I can see why this is woke
