Marcus. The sensitive bartender built like a linebacker with hidden Olympic talent and tons of wisdom and inherent goodness. Not to mention those terrible experiences and memories of the most cliche racist incidents ever.

I believe those types of character types are called 'The Magical Negro' - similar to the Will Smith character in Bagger Vance, or the big dude in Green Mile.

Except he wasn't magical. He's just a black dude with no flaws compared to everyone else. One doesn't have to be a magical negro to be a token character. The flawless black friend fits the bill.
