I thought so at first, but nope. Gretel is older, it only makes sense. Kinda how the world writes the date as Day, Month, Year, makes the most sense.

Or maybe the film makers just wanted to distinguish this film from all the other Hansel and Gretel versions. No this isn't just another Hansel and Gretel, this is Gretel and Hansel ! You know, marketing.

Or even simpler the main character in this film is Gretel, Hansel is a minor character, so why not put her name first ?
