What's the Purpose of... (SPOILERS)

1. Malcolm, the only black guy? Was he going to rescue or kill Charlie? I think he was going to kill her, else why would Henry (Reno) slit his throat? On the other hand... Malcolm showed he was an amateur, not a pro, by running and wildly firing all over the place. So, he was a good guy coming to rescue her? Then Henry was totally evil 'til he let them shoot him? I assume dumping the magazine was for us, the audience, as he still would have a round in the chamber & the cops wouldn't have seen him do it.

2. The biker with the beard? I expected him to eavesdrop on and report about the cops' convo in the restaurant. Nope. Maybe he was the nephew of one of the many producers.

3. More of a comment: Notice how, more and more movies are funded with money taken from taxpayers? I want my cut of the gross! Also notice how more and more characters smoke in films. I call "product placement" since the ciggies are always just-lighted and there are no messy ashtrays, the smokers never cough, and no one complains or asks them to blow the smoke elsewhere. I think in the one restaurant they were implying they were all smoking weed... not convincing to me, though It might explain funding by Washington state to enhance tourism.

4. The CEO? He was the only one with a possible motive to kill both the father and Charlie. Yet, he claims he has no motive as he'd lose his job. Plus there's the backstory of his buying Charlie presents supposedly from her father.

5. The setup at the beginning at the club? It painted the father as some kind rich hood. I'm going by visual cues such as his "workout" involving champaigne and a girl, all the dark hues, and the thug-looking guys around him. Foreshadowing or misdirection? Or... ?

6. That LONNNNGGGG setup? The movie was half over before we learn (surprise surprise) that "Charlie" is the girl* and she's seeking Henry to kill him. But why did she get (one infers) years of training in killing and defense? Did the father anticipate she'd want to someday avenge his death (the comment about rich people only having enemies - boo hoo).
(* I guessed it some time after the CEO told the cop the father had an "offspring" who would take his place. Who says that? I think probably the second time they avoided showing who else was in the Bentley (tm) limo, I figured it out. )

7. The very end. Was that a setup for Charlie's character to live on in a sequel and hunt whoever set Henry up to kill her father and her? If so, I don't think I was interested enough to put up with a sequel.

Whatever questions you or I have, the scenery was good, as was the drone photography. Doesn't make me want to visit Washington state nor Ukraine, though. How 'bout you?
