Overly competitive.

Why do we insist on placing great things on a list of importance? I fear this behavior is going to backfire on us tremendously. I'm not sure which avenue it will take but I'm certain the outcome will be devastating.
Instead of praising the works mentioned in this series they needlessly try to force a
"voting mechanism" into the mix and foul up the entire purpose which is to get people to read works that may appeal to them.
I watch it, but ignore (and often curse) the constant "go to our website and vote for..." requests that not only insult us but advocate the team playing culture that is stifling individuality and personal achievement necessary to the advancement of society and culture. A thought, ironically, that is persistent in much of the literature being discussed.
