So literally NOTHING happens in this movie

The entire movie is just following around an office assistant doing her daily routine, cleaning up, filing papers, fixing food and answering phones, nothing else happens in this movie, theres no story at all.

I have never watched a movie as pointless and as uneventful as this, a movie where nothing happens and i'm not even joking, NOTHING happens. You keep sitting and watching waiting for some kind of story to unfold or some kind of plot to develop but you just keep watching Julia Garner do office work.

the point is that things do happen, but they're only implied, not shown. did you really want to watch a fat hollywood producer rape and abuse his applicants and actresses?

reply

What? lol no, where did you get the impression i wanted to see rape and abuse? I wanted to see SOMETHING happen at some point in this movie and nothing ever does. I can't imagine how anyone could find this movie entertaining or halfway watchable, its a movie about a girl doing office work for an hour and a half nothing more.

reply

is it the first arthouse film you've ever seen? a lot of things are happening, you just have to make your own conclusions on what's happening off screen. or why do you think the girl is so tense and worried while doing her office work and she even goes so far to report her boss?

having said that, i don't think this is a great movie ("solid" would be a more fitting term). it is indeed restrained due to its concept. but it delivers exactly what it promised.

No use trying to explain anything to someone like that, their sights are too narrow. tho I do find it funny how these movies they seem to hate so much leave such an impact as to lead them to make a post about it

reply

Yeah you guys are so much smarter and have such a wider sight than me and you totally get all the hidden and suggestive meanings behind everything in this masterpiece of a movie. Lol fuck off, this movie is boring as fuck, you guys would analyze and love a movie about a fly sitting on top of a crusty old pile of dog shit for 2 hours, "Oh look at the way the sun hits the shit at this one part that has such a deeper meaning and so many things going on there".

You guys try and act as if you love and get these artsy movies to make yourselves feel smarter and above us simple folk that just don't understand it cause our sights are just too narrow to understand why watching someone pour coffee while making a face is so much deeper.

reply

aaaaaaand point made ^^^ .. still here arguing about a movie they hated. what a shitty way to live, being so upset about everything. if you don't like something, move on.

reply

There is a lot happening beneath the surface and unseen in the background. It makes the film more effective that you don't see explicitly everything that is going on, but you still can figure it out. There is a definitely a story here unfolding, it just isn't spelled out or told in a flashy way.

reply

"Literally nothing" would mean the characters were in a room not moving, doing absolutely. When you insert "literally" in a sentence it means you are using a phrase that's usually metaphorical, but you want to remark that now it isn't.

Ironically, your'e complaining that 'nothing happened' in this movie which is exactly the entire point of the whole film: young, impressionable women were being used, abused, and silenced by this entitled movie executive and yet despite the protagonist caring about what was going on, nothing happened. No one wanted to speak up and challenge him on his awful and despicable behaviour. Do you get it now?

reply

I think that in the HR office seen something does happen. You get to see what is really going on.
