I apologize for not catching on to a certain scene like i should i guess. How in the HELL did that brunette woman that got hit by that SUV turn into a freakin zombie? I don't get how her dumbass turned into a zombie. The boyfriend left her but he wasn't a zombie. How could she change then? This is the very first episode btw

Fair.
She probably died from massive internal bleeding and possibly organ damage. But she landed on her back, no limbs bent at funny angles, so her arms and legs weren't broken. Even if all her ribs were cracked and her abdominal cavity was full of blood she'd still run like a gold medal athlete on PCP.

This is a perfect example. TWD was the first to do anyone who dies turns into a zombie, but were able to get away with this because they set this up and explained it’s a virus. This show however...DOES NOT EXPLAIN THAT! It just assumed everyone has seen TWD and therefore knows that “rule”. Lazy idiots.
Someone says it after Barbara was thrown from the car and died. I think it was in the diner. Granted, not in the first episode the OP is talking about but it was said.
