So a zombie apocalypse breaks out and kids....

take over a school and make it all jigsaw meets children of the corn environment? Kinda stupid, was really good until this point. I hope it gets better.

Also the black guy with the gun. He knows only headshots put the zombies down but he keeps wasting ammo shooting the deaf guy a zillion times in the body. Doesnt make sense and makes it kinda hard to root for him. I actually want to see him die and the white gurl take over.

Yeah. The entire school situation was really off putting to me. Just dumb

But the white chick is easily the worst character in the show. She's retarded & mentally weak. I hope she dies ASAP

reply

She'll probably be the only one who lives. She has the most room to grow from a character development standpoint.

Also, this whole episode was stupid.

reply

Also the worst actor, I mean seriously?

I don’t think it is as bad as you describe. In any group, someone will always assume the alpha role and of these kids were caught up and initially decided to wait at school for their parents to collect them then waiting an hour, turns into 3 hours, 1 day and the alpha tells them it’s too dangerous to go outside. So I think it’s plausible that the kids are hiding out in the school. We are about 6 weeks in to the outbreak so it’s a very short period of time and I agree that it’s too unbelievable that these kids are trapping other people and using them to improve their own situation. I think they’d still be in the crying themselves to sleep stage and would be happy to ar an adult but it depends on what they have already witnessed from strangers and also if eldest teen is a complete domineering nutcase.

It’s a bit of a shock that the writers have already included this bullshit mini side story but hope episode 4 is better.

Here's the thing.....it's entertainment and for one thing, people mistakenly think headshots on moving objects are so easy...especially for the novice shooter.

I would not be surprised in future seasons it is revealed that it takes massive head trauma to fell the running dead and just not a shot to the head.

Secondly, as for the school, yes, it was probably too soon for such a break down in sociopathy, but one way to look at it is just what would teens do if suddenly all mores, rules, and laws were removed and they were allowed to behave in any way they thought they could?

reply

A moving headshot would be hard, but if you stand your ground, aim, and let him get closer, it becomes much easier.

Granted, it would take some huge stones to stand still while a charging zombie is coming at you, but it's much more preferable than popping off a bunch of half-assed shots and wasting precious ammo.

With the amount of video games the majority of us play, head shots on a zombie are a walk in the park.

I'm repeating from another comment I made.

(SPOILERS AHEAD)

On episode 3, when Ryan is shot in the school, Spears seem to know that both him and Rose have to go before he turns. However, he could have easily finished him by shooting him in the head while he could, which would have avoided the following nonsense sequence of running around and shooting randomly.

Also, when Spears fought the "real Spears" soldier in the bathroom to escape, he cleanly shots him in the head. It seemed that he already knew that you don't need to get bitten in order to be infected, if you die, you turn (which feels like a stolen idea from "The Walking Dead"). It also made clear that a shot in the head is enough and that no massive head trauma is needed in order to kill one of those things (otherwise the soldier would have turned). On the other hand, Spears could have killed Patrick with a head shot, but he doesn't, so... The show doesn't seem to follow a logic.

So, while you're right about the difficulty of shooting a moving target in the head, there are plenty of situations where you actually can avoid that (even avoiding the waste of ammo, if you finish someone who is dying/just died by a big head trauma -fire extinguisher in the case of Ryan, for example-).

Just a heads up people. This show goes out with a BANG.

The first 5 episodes basically don't matter. The final 3 are everything.

And I stand by how much I hate that dumb broad. This show doesn't seem truly intent on making you love their protagonists. They're more like antiheroes depending on your perspective.... But that seems to be what they're going for. It works in the end.

But man, I almost stopped watching after a certain point. You'll see what I'm talking about. Make sure you finish it though

Ya im actually rooting for the asian girl now but i still think the series is wack. So many stupid and unrealistic situations, even for a zombie series. The club filled with drug addicts going to town on their fix and people daning and partying like its 1999? I mean, come on! The hispanic girls man gets offed and she doesnt ask questions or make a fuss? The little girl is now rambo and can handle a glock cus shes been on her own for a week tops. This series is horrible, one of netflix worst.

Yeah I'm on episode 6 now and stopped it to see if anyone here commented on the stupidity of this underground meth lab/disco/house of prostitution/arms warehouse. I mean WTF is this place and how ridiculous is it that it's the middle of a zombie apocalypse and they're dancing???

For the most part I'm enjoying this show but some things, like this one, have just been too ridiculous!

reply

" I mean WTF is this place and how ridiculous is it that it's the middle of a zombie apocalypse and they're dancing???"

The whole place had a weird setup but I think it makes sense people find ways to distract themselves for hours at a time. That was the least of my issues.

"The hispanic girls man gets offed and she doesnt ask questions or make a fuss?"

Zombie apocalypse for six weeks, plus a trek from Mexico to Arizona and beyond (in her case). People die and you learn to move on fast.

reply

Is there really anything to ask? He's not there. He died one way or another. What does it matter?

The partying and drug taking is plausible. People often take drugs even now due to hopelessness in their lives. A zombie apocalypse is prime time for drug taking to sky rocket. What else is there to do to pass the time if you are not the survival type? I have no idea what people were trading for drugs though. I mean cash is worthless.

reply

I was just pissed that they didn’t tell the kids he was deaf. He couldn’t hear them say that if he moved they’d shoot him and no one bothered to tell them?

reply

Naw, it's the white girl (Rose) who needs to die.

It's clear these kids don't want to be found, yet she is running around ranting, yelling, and pounding doors to find them. She's not even entirely sure if there's zombies anywhere, so she seems to think the faster way to find them is to advertise your position to them. The idiot even steps in front of the gun to protect them? Her idea to find them almost got everyone killed.

After Ryan got zombied by the extremely unrealistic Children of The Corn, these fools (Rose and "Spears") ran and didn't think to close any doors behind them? Let's leave them open to make it easier for Mr. Ryan Zombie to chew us up?

The writing in this show is stupid and lazy. They didn't think it through at all. Even the previous episode, the people in the van were just as stupid.

reply

And even after she finds the speaker, all she does is react to the sound. It's a trap, cut the wire!

reply

Hahahah yeah lots of stuff in this show is completely random, its a cool show though, for me the quiet guy (with the dog) was my favorite character, untill he just whistles gets his dog and leaves xD

reply

Yeah, that was funny. I wonder where he was headed.

reply

Anywhere but inside the school.
