Watched episode 1, So far so good

My opinion may be a bit skewered given that i just came from watching Discovery or as i call it the super hero Michael Burnham saves the future universe where in the new season apparently the straight white male populace has all but been obliterated.

In other words an SJWs future utopian wet dream.Star trek Picard was a welcome breath of fresh compared to that woke crap.I'll take grandpa Picard over woke Burnham any day.

They are both pretty bad. After the two Star Trek "reboot" movies, and these two series I won't be watching any Star Trek stuff any more.

reply

Only half way through and it drags on a bit much but so far it's not that bad.It's infinitely more watchable than Star woke Discovery.I'm done with discovery.Didn't even finish season 3.The wokeness just went to ridiculous comedic extremes.

reply

Sorry, I don't do wokeness and I don't attack wokeness, it's a non-issue that i think people are foolish to obsess about.

Discovery has an excuse, it's a new show, new ship, new crew... This one doesn't.

Seeing Picard and Data in original uniform early in the season was great. But that's where the greatness ends.

Hugh -> killed off.
Icheb -> killed off horribly.
Data -> killed off.
Picard -> yelled at a lot, killed off & turned into a robot.
Seven -> turned into a vigilante killing people left and right; Janeway would be so proud.

This is not Star Trek.

"Discovery has an excuse, it's a new show, new ship, new crew"

Other than going for the world record for most cringy eye rolls in an audience there is absolutely no excuse for being that blatantly, all in, balls to the wind woke.

"This is not Star Trek"

It's definitely different and it drags on slowly but i still don't think it's that bad.Although like i said i'm only half way through.my opinion may change.

Up until the finale, it was okay-ish. Reference over reference, easter egg over easter egg, but ok.

But after the finale... it's like eating junk food with a very bad aftertaste; like "wtf did I just watch... for the past 10 weeks?".

DSC is bad, but PIC is worse in every way. Kurtzman-Trek is not Star Trek.

I don't know.It definitely wasn't as satisfying as i hoped.Bringing Riker and Troi in was great but they didn't really use them much.Felt like they just popped in to wink at the fans.Didn't like that they killed Data.The dumbest thing was giving Picard an illness just so they would have an excuse to make him a robot.That felt stupid and pointless.

As far as which is the better show i would sit through this another 10 times rather than watch any of Discovery again.Identity politics are destroying the entertainment industry.

When I think about it, one is worse than the other and I don't think there's any hope for the new Cpt Pike show either. Thanks for sharing.

Agreed....

Couldn't have said it better. What you listed are exactly the reasons I detest this show. It's not Star Trek.

Riker & Troi episode felt a bit like coming home, but with all the trash that happened before and after made it feel kinda hollow.
