CBS Reportedly Discussing A Star Trek: Picard Spinoff For Janeway

https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/cbs-reportedly-discussing-star-trek-picard-spinoff-janeway/

“Star Trek: Picard has now wrapped up its first season, and fans have been blown away by how it brought back Sir Patrick Stewart’s Starfleet legend and dropped him in a very contemporary, thrilling storyline. As great as having Jean-Luc’s journey continued is, though, Trek lovers have been left hungry to see other characters in the franchise get the same treatment. Another captain, for instance. Maybe Voyager‘s Kathryn Janeway?

If you’re one of those fans, then you’re in luck, as CBS is reportedly discussing a potential Picard spinoff for Kate Mulgrew. We Got This Covered has heard from our sources – the same ones who said a Captain Pike series is in the works, which has now been confirmed – that the network is interested in the idea, given how successful Stewart’s comeback has proven to be. Nothing has been set in stone just yet, but we’re told it’s indeed being discussed.

Apparently, CBS want to test the waters for the project by bringing Mulgrew back in a future season of Picard. As we’ve already shared, there are plans for Janeway to return for a small role or cameo on the show. It’s unclear whether this would be in season 2 or 3, but if fan response is positive and the actress is up for it, then the concept may get the green light....”

reply

No thanks. If I never ever see anything having to do with Voyager again for as long as I live, it will be too soon.

reply

Fuck it - bring Worf spin-off series. Better yet, Q.
Janeway was a crappy character - so was Sisco (ds9 was decent, but that was due to really good support cast/writing).

reply

Apparently they will bring back Worf for season 2 of Picard.

reply

I don't mean cameo - bring worf back for a spin-off series.

reply

Yeah, I know what you mean and I agree.

I was just meaning to say he will apparently be in next Picard at least. But now I am not so sure in my source, I realized that site where I read it is known to post fake movie related news.

Also I read few times somewhere that Michael Dorn has been pushing for Worf spin-off for years but no one was interested.

I was wondering if he makes an appearance in Picard or has his spin-off what he would look like? Like the old Worf or like the new ST:D Klingon? 🤔

reply

lol - i imagine like the old worf

reply

I hope so. 😂

reply

Why would you want Worf brought back, he was already neutered quite a bit, in todays climate if they brought him back he would probably be brought back as a transgender Klingon longing for a sex change so he could be even more docile and submissive.

reply

I feel like Worf is least likely to be corrupted in such a manner.... but you could be right...

reply

"fans have been blown away by how it brought back Sir Patrick Stewart’s Starfleet legend and dropped him in a very contemporary, thrilling storyline"

Hardly

reply

Janeway is my FAVORITE STAR TREK CAPTAIN, and VOYAGER is my FAVORITE STAR TREK SHOW.

It would be WONDERFUL to see her again, and/or to see her get her own SPIN OFF SERIES!!!

As you may recall, PICARD didn't like being around other KIDS, whereas JANEWAY was an ATTENTIVE MOTHER HEN to each and every single one of her CREW members (including to kids like the ADORABLE little NAOMI WILDMAN).

reply

Yeah, would love to see Janeway too. I know lot of people don’t like Voyager, but it is dear to me as I loved to watch it when I was a kid. So it brings me back.

Unfortunately Satan2016 informed me that I posted a link from a fake news site. Probably none of it is true.

reply

I think you are in a minority. To most people Voyager was the weakest of all the Star Trek spinoffs and Janeway probably the most hated of captains.

reply

On the contrary JANEWAY was RANKED QUITE HIGH with only PICARD and KIRK being ahead of her in this link:

https://www.space.com/38244-best-star-trek-captains.html

and in the LIST of "FAVORITE TREK CHARACTERS in GENERAL" PICARD/KIRK/SISKO are RANKED ahead of her(which also contradicts data in the first link where SISKO isn't a FAVORITE CAPTAIN but is listed as being a more favorite character):

https://www.thewrap.com/all-39-star-trek-main-characters-ranked-from-spock-to-wesley-photos/

QUOTE:

Kathryn Janeway (Voyager) The Voyager's captain has become the basis for much debate among Trekkies. In addition to her character swinging from mother figure to ruthless general depending on the writer, Janeway threw away the Federation rulebook in ways that even Kirk would be shocked by as she tried to guide the Voyager back home. Say what you will, but Janeway is an interesting figure in the "Trek" canon, which is why she's ranked so high.

END QUOTE

In other words, she comes in 4th place in the RANK of FAVORITE CAPTAINS.

AND ...

The ANIMATED SERIES and ENTERPRISE were the LEAST LIKED of all the TREK SERIES:

https://screenrant.com/star-trek-tv-series-ranked-best-worst/

And VOYAGER was also responsible for an INCREASE in VIEWERSHIP:

QUOTE:

Star Trek: Voyager's legacy created numerous new fans, especially girls and women who became enamored with the Star Trek franchise thanks to Janeway, Seven, and the strong female characters in its ensemble.

END QUOTE

In other words, you are WRONG when you say VOYAGER was the WEAKEST, and all you've done is EXPRESS your OWN PERSONAL OPINION with NO FACTS to back up the FALSE CLAIM that you've made.

As for being in or having a MINORITY OPINION, since MOST OPINIONS (like your own) also seem to fit into the "LEAST INFORMED CATEGORY," one is also PROUD for that reason not to be in the same kind of an UNINFORED CATEGORY as you yourself.

reply

You've proven nothing other than you are some fanboy that got his feeling hurt. Throwing out some ridiculous screenrant has all the weight of a gnat on an elephants ass.

My own equally statistically significant poll showed that Janeway was the worst, Voyager as utter garbage and that you are an embarrassment to the human race. Feel free to allow your head to explode and go bold everywhere, but don't expect a reply you aren't worth any more of my time.

reply

I also enjoyed Voyager but Janeway hasn't aged as well as 7. Last program I saw Kat Mulgrew in she looked rather old.

reply

PICARD is also about 80 YEARS old NOW and he also looks EVEN OLDER than JANEWAY does.

Same situation with RIKER and with DEANNA who have also AGED and are showing signs of having done so.

So IF one is going to base "Looking OLDER" upon whether or not a character should appear on the show or not, then we also already have at least 3 CHARACTERS who illustrate the reasons why JANEWAY should make an appearance on the SHOW.

PLUS she was also a MOTHER FIGURE to SEVEN who could probably also use some MOTHERLY ADVICE in regards to what's going on???

Because with 7 behaving like a VIGILANTE, that could also mean she ends up being just as bad MORALLY as that other woman who ran the CASINO???

Because if she keeps KILLING PEOPLE and being her own JUDGE and JURY, eventually she's probably also going to KILL someone who is INNOCENT of the CRIME that she incorrectly assumes they're GUILTY of???

Because it's also EASY enough for someone to SET UP someone else and BLAME THEM for a CRIME that they haven't COMMITTED???

Which was also DEMONSTRATED already for us by the way THE SYNTH called F8 was blamed for the ATTACKS on MARS when it was really the ROMULANS who did it???

Fake news site. Promoted The Rise of Skywalker conspiracy theories.

reply

I’m not into Star Wars, so that reference doesn’t mean anything to me as I know nothing about any of it (the new Star Wars that is).

But thanks for the heads up, headlines from this site started showing up in my Google feed because of my interest in Star Trek. There was another one about Worf making an appearance in Picard season 2. That’s a shame, would love to see Worf.

I just googled wegotthiscovered.com and people on Reddit and some other forums are discusing that it is a fake news site. You can’t trust anything these days, even random movie news sites. Everything needs to be double checked, so tiring. 🙄😑

reply

Sure. Why not. It couldn't be any worse than this one was.

reply

I was excited about Picard until the last ep and they killed him off and replaced him with a synthetic. I just dont have faith in today's writers. They all want to make these characters their own and write stupid shit like Picard becoming an android. It wasnt an original or good idea at all. Farscape did a much better job of killing off its entire cast in one episode. They were all "twin-ed" equal and original.lol.....same with Voyager. Everyone died there but had an equal original copy. Picard died. His memories copied to an android body. We are no long really watching the real Picard.

reply

Yeah, I know what you mean. I think it is weird that Picard is an android now. It is not real Picard. Last episode of the season had some good bits but others were just plain stupid. When I first watched it I was confused, didn’t know what to think, I felt weird about it. Then I realized I don’t like Picard being an android. 😂

That being said, I will probably forget he is one by next season, especially if they don’t mention it again. It’s how I forgot that all crew on Voyager died and was replaced with a copy. But weren’t there also one episode when it was only Harry Kim who died and was replaced with a copy from parallel universe? It was when he was saving baby Naomi Wildman from the Kazon.

Never heard of Farscape before. Is it good? Would you recommend it?

reply

That voyager episode was the same one with kim. Voyager was halved or copied. We never really know which. So either the entire crew of Voyager are the copies or Kim...lol. I just think of it as the farscape ep. They are all equal and original.

reply

Oh, it was the same episode after all?! Lol. Yeah, I thought it might be, but I can’t keep track anymore. There were quite a few of the storylines with parallel universes and I might even confused some of them with TNG.
