S1E6 - Sigh...

I hope they're not killing off all our minor/major classic characters we've come to know and maybe love. First Icheb (former Borg), slight possibility Seven of Nine (former Borg) and now possibly Elnor (Romulan refugee) and Hugh (ex-Third of Five Borg). The more recent ones have been left to interpretation be it escape, capture, or death. Both 7of9 and Ep6 events give assumptions they likely didn't make it out alive seeing how 7of9 was blasting away akimbo style without cover and Elnor along with Hugh being cornered at a dead end pathway after closing the hidden Queen's panic chamber behind them.

They're all facing jeopardy but the future is unknown until they come to live it - and we are following the events as they happened without any assurances of what will or won't happen. I was sure Seven would be a mainstay character but that prospect has been put on pause by the plot - she may have survived and she may return and rejoin the story, but there are no guarantees. This departs from the usual model of certainty of characters that was present in the classic TNG or broader Trek style.

I suspect nobody died - although, as we know in hollywood it all depends on the contract rather than the script.

That ninja dude, they spent too much time building him up to off him so easily - even if ninja dude has no business being in a sci fi series, unless he's got those star wars laser-deflecting swords.

7of9.... it was a cameo, there may be another cameo down the road, perhaps season 2? Otherwise, it was clear from the beginning that none of the old trek peeps were going to be in the series for long.

What's surprising is how Picard just lets them go so easily and doesn't bother finding out what happened to them in the following episode (in the case of 7of9).

Well to be fair regarding 7 of 9 she told Picard she was beaming to a Ranger ship. He might have been suspicious, but that is what she said so, technically, he would not have a reason to check back with her.

Hugh just bought it. No surprise. This series is getting more and more like Abrams' and Johnson's "Star Wars" movies. Bring classic characters back just so you can kill them off.

The "Picard" writers are simply using the classic characters to get people to watch this new show. They don't care about them at all, though. They're just pieces on a game board.

May Hugh RIP. Elnor did make it out at least from how he activated some sort of SOS beacon for the Fenris Rangers. 7of9 does make a return in Episode 8 via sneak preview so that's a good sign.
