episode 2

showed pretty weak writing, imho
slow, lots of foreshadowing, picard still has no ship, the enemy true identity is revealed way too early.

spoiler

revelation that picard is dying - which shouldn't be too surprising given his age, was partially hillarious, partially cheap move to achieve subpar drama.

I turned the episode off after 10 minutes. I liked the pilot, though. When 7 of 9 shows up, I'll watch that episode.

You know she won't have the catsuit any more, right? That IS the main reason you'll be seeing her, right?

reply

She's a familiar character as opposed to these new lame ones and the trailers show her going full on Terminatrix with 2 guns. That could be entertaining.

(exasperated sigh)

Ha. I said the same thing to my buddy. This isn't gonna be the naive but strict school teacher in the sexy outfits. This is a tough as nails sassy rootin tootin two gun fistin bad mama jamma. That can be sexy too, but this ain't gonna rub nobody's 7 itch.

Although weaker than the first episode, it was nice to see the new uniforms much more closeup.

I don’t get that they all seem to have a yellow top though, where is blue and red?

reply

Starfleet did away with the red tops. For some reason their life insurance rates for employees wearing them were way too high.

I mostly agree with your points. They need to avoid too much padding - some kind of reasonable momentum needs to be maintained so the fundamental pieces are put together before the investigation goes on. As it is, the pacing is too slow and liable to send some people asleep. Both exposition and action need to be present in reasonable amounts.

Frankly the second episode was worst than the first. Especially, the cringey scene where Picard talks that woman at Starfleet . "How Dare you try save people, Picard. We should let every alien species who wants our help, die, (Evil Laugh)" Dose this bitch remember Star Trek 6. Well i doubt the writers watched Star Trek 6. Hell i doubt the writers never watch episode of TNG. Just more bad writing form Kurtzmen and crew.
