Jessica Chastain still hasn't said anything about it. I guess she realizes that someone like her defending a woman beater just isn't gonna work - yet she's still filming his screenplay. Just a strange situation all around.

Another theory I heard is that there was a gag clause put in place when he stepped down. But that doesn't explain why she didn't speak up when the backlash first hit.

Newton isn't well known at all in America so it probably wouldn't matter too much. The film will flop anyway.

I'm kind of pissed that we may never know the whole story. It's so damn interesting.
