Season 1 Finale MASSIVE SPOILERS

if you care about this series and have not seen the Season 1 finale, PLEASE STOP
READING NOW, for your own sake. Thank you.

Okay, mea culpa time. I was charmed by, and invested in, Euphoria because I never thought I’d watch a show like this, let alone admire it. I am FAR from being its target demo!; but I loved it. Damn! It is well done: narrative, casting and dialogue. I felt let down by the finale, which is why I haven’t posted about it. It seemed, well, hollow when compared with what came before, especially the final few minutes which seemed to be little more than a Zendaya-aggrandizing music video. I watched it 3 times and had the same “?” reaction each time.

Yesterday, I did a search for when Season 2 begins (which seem to be June, BTW), and found a lot of articles that maintained that SPOILER Rue died of an overdose at the end of the ep. Her mother’s eulogy was intercut throughout the ep. Jules boarded the get-away train without her because Rue was dead. Rue’s mom and sis ignored her in the final few minutes because they could not feel her ghost. The “music video” was Rue accepting her death.

So I guess Rue won’t be in Season 2 unless they’re doing a remake of Dead Like Me.

Did YOU pick up on all this? Any of this? It makes sense to me, now. Rue was clearly falling-down, fumbling/tumbling-down fucked up before her family stopped acknowledging her. All the vectors point toward her self-destruction. I’d like to know if you caught all this. This was a POWERFUL season finale.
