Is There Anything/Anybody to Like in This?

Man! Everyone of these characters are a piece of work. I'm glad I didn't spend my teenage years with people like these. Is their anybody in the bunch who isn't criminal & depraved? What a perverse show, I'm sure it's going to be a hit.

You must have had a different upbringing that most of us. It must be special to live in a bubble with no peer pressures that had strong influences on your course through these murky, teen waters.

There are plenty of things to like in many characters, right down to Fez caring for Rue (yeah, the drug dealer). Almost everyone here has a flaw (which should you remind you of real life, if you've actually lived it).

Speaking of Rue, if you feel no empathy for her at all, you're missing a lot. Yes, she's being extremely weak on a sea of caring people (her mom, her sis, Jules, now this Ali guy). You might call it selfish -- I see it as a young person learning the hard way.

What you're SEEING is not supposed to be a Brady Bunch family of false teens -- these are real life-like events (even if often exaggerated, because hey, that's what stories are all about) and is also a great dip-stick into about how life is for this age group in these times (because even though I had touch trials and tribulations in my previous generation, it was quite a big different than this).

Anyone to like? Yes, Jules’ father, for one. He is tremendously kind, supportive and loving. He gives her validation and space. Hooray for him. Rue’s sponsor, as notaspeckofcereal has said, for another. He gives her valuable tough love. Hell, Cassie’s mother! She is flawed as hell, has almost no skills as a parent and was married to a junkie (tracks on his arms), but at least TRIES to reach out and support her baby girl. I also put Jules and Rue on this list, for their friendship. Having lived through many of life’s stages, I think I can say that adolescence is easily the most confusing one. Any solid rock that you can find while awash in that sea of confusion is a Godsend, a solice and an oasis. That describes what Rue and Jules have with each other.

Now, is there anyTHING to like here? Yeah, the whole show.

You really do write very well, R Kane. I agree with the above.. I actually like the drug dealer (fez?) he might knock out Nate for calling the cops on him. Jules father is awesome.
How come Jules rules their relationship though? Does Rue love her more? I always feel Jules is one moment away from just leaving her behind.

Thank you, flowers. The secret is to write from your heart, and the best words will come and find you😊

My best guess, Flowers, comes from an old saying: “Love is a mutual admiration society consisting of 2 people, and the one who loves the less is elected its president.” I think Rue loves Jules more at this point in the narrative. I also think that this balance can shift.

I like that..the one that loves the less is elected it President. So very true.

Yes. Everyone knows it’s true, because we’ve all experienced it. It’s a quote I will never forget. I’m glad I got to share it with you.

its ratings are quite poor, but does ok in streaming

Go back to the Hallmark channel.

It is my great pleasure to make someone like you uncomfortable.

Hmm. Of the kids, I find Jules the most likeable. Roo's sister. Most of the adults are fairly likeable, even Nate's dad, somewhat, in his own way.
