an 8 rating

impressive.

I liked it, but not as much as Hereditary. Still mulling it over.

I'd give it a 7.

I think the film could have been shorter. I also had a minor problem with some of the actions of the main characters after the old people killed themselves. And I pretty much had the ending figured out by the mid-way point of the film what Dani's fate was going to be.

Still in all, worth seeing. But I wouldn't recommend it to everybody.

i just walked out of the theatre & wrote up a short letterboxd review.
i'm parking my rating at a 4/5, but even now, the more i think about it, the more impressed i am, & could see that rating going up.
i might go see it again this weekend.

i will also say this:
not that i need to divulge this here, though no one will care i'm sure, but i used to do a fair bit of acid back in my younger days, and i think a few very specific elements of this film came closer to capturing experiences i had on acid than anything else i've ever seen in a film.

hey, oh my gosh, you might be the only person who can save me when it comes to letterboxd. how in the world do you write messages about movies to other members on that website like on here on the message boards here?

reply

if i understand your question properly, you're asking if letterboxd has message boards, right? as far as i know (someone can correct me if i'm mistaken) letterboxd doesn't have a forum. you can certainly comment on any individual's review - there's a little dialogue box at the bottom of every review page. i've never seen much action going on in any of those areas, though.

honestly, i think that's one of the things that maybe makes letterboxd a genuinely pleasant experience - there just isn't much opportunity for people to be trolls.

there are some lists that have a lot of messages going back & forth - the top 250 list has a lot of comments on it, but most of them are along the lines of 'i can't believe XXX is here and YYY isn't.'

on letterboxd.com, you can't write anything after a review actually, just after the comments people leave about a movie.
