The Tony Sorno character was a creep

Is this really the male types that appeal to women? I mean, the main male character (Tony Sorno), I thought was a creep in the movie. Everything from how he talked and behaved much of the time. And then there's his profession as a private investigator. I'm of the impression that is a career that would likely appeal to creepy types of people. Then he shows up at her house uninvited and enters without a welcome, and gets physical with her (I can't recall her name). Like seriously if this is the type of man women are referring to when they say they like a man who can skirt the boundaries of a bad guy (I've heard it put something like that), that's pathetic!
