Blackwashing News: DC Comics is About to Give Us a Black Batman

Yeap, not a joke. The blackwasher rises again XDDDD

Since AT&T is likely to shut down DC comics soon, I imagine they want to go with some big wokefest.

I wouldn't call it blackwashing because it's not going to be Bruce Wayne. If you're inventing a whole new character, he can be any race.

reply

Called Blatman?

reply

You're free to call it as you want. I call it 'blackwashing', the same I call female Thor 'femwashing'.

reply

Cool. I'm in favour of a Batman who happens to be black. I hope they eventually do a movie with a black Batman.

reply

I really don't care. It's a bloody comic book character for crying out loud.

If you have a problem with Batman being black you need to:

1. Realise it's black people, not the race of a superhero, that you have a problem with
2. Find something more important to worry about
3. Build a bridge and
4. Get over it

Comics and movies are modern folktales. They influence how our world is perceived, and that's why there's so much interest in changing it to fit some political agenda.

I have a problem with enforcing some political racial agenda. I would have the same problem, for example, if Disney made a movie set in China and every Asian character was portrayed like some American middle class.

reply

I'm fine with it as long it's allowed to have a white panther as well else this is just pandering and whatever you want to call it washing.

reply

Just like Nightwing, Azrael and Jim Gordon took over as Batman, now Batwing might.

How is that “blackwashing”?

What an idiotic word and post, and totally off-topic to this forum.

reply

Because it has become systematic in Hollywood and mainstream Comic industry.

The key is the word 'systematic'.

If you have a villain portrayed as a Jew, well, that means nothing. If you portray systematically Jews as villains and non-Jews as positive, that's antisemitic.
