Agree - why the low ratings?

This movie is, of course rated lower than 'Miss Congeniality'. Not quite sure why the reviews and ratings of this are so low. Is it because they expected Bill Murray to do 1 hour and 45 minutes of one liners? It's typical Jarmusch aloofness and he does it well. He's great at nailing down the character traits early on. Adam Driver is especially good with his dry, matter of fact, nonchalant dialogue.

I found it pretty hilarious in parts. There are clear nods to Trump, climate change and materialistic throwaway culture and there are lots of tributes to films and directors. Iggy Pop's character is called Samuel M Fuller, and the motel owner was called Perkins!

It is oddly meta in places and there isn't a strong ending, but it's worth a watch.

6.8/10

It's dreadful. I wouldn't give it 1/10.

So so slow and boring 💤

reply

So you'd give this film zero out of 10?

reply

Less.

reply

Aaaahhhh, you didn't understand it.

reply

It's a 7/10 from me.

I got to see a screening of this at a music festival of all places, where one of the main players introduced it, then sat down right in front of us.

Halfway through, SHE got up and walked out, never to return.

The script was just so disjointed, with main characters being introduced really late into things, this bizarre lack of reaction to events, and scenes that seemed incomplete.

It wasn't a total write off, but it was pretty damn boring.

Have you seen any other Jim Jarmusch movies?

reply

Apparently not.

reply

They're probably not for you if you think this was boring.

I liked the dry humour and actors acting like they were stoned. It was very slow, but I appreciate it. 7.5/10 for me.

reply

i liked it it was silly and funny

I just watched it and thought it was pretty meh, the cast was great but the pacing was not wonderful and the story was a bit dry.
