Better than the original?

I remember watching the original movie on HBO or Cinemax, or maybe Showtime in maybe 1990 or so, I was very young and my family moved out of that house in 1990. We had new neighbors and my parents had them over. They were in the kitchen drinking beers and I was in the "TV room" watching Child's Play on one of the cable channels. I loved the movie, I thought it was so awesome, I was 8 or maybe 9 years old. I just watched the remake or retelling of Child's Play and think it's just as good or maybe even better than the original. Definitely more believable. I've had nostalgia for the first movie my whole life after watching it, it's hard not to after watching a movie you probably shouldn't be watching at such a young age. I grew up loving the original movies and even had a very realistic Chucky Doll up until a few months ago before I sold it on ebay. I would have held onto it but times have become tough, either way I think this movie is just as good if not better than the original.

Not fit to tie it's shoelaces. In fact not fit to wipe the shit from it's shoes

It was better than the original. Original wasn't scary or believable, this one is both, you're caught up in your nostalgia.

cool story cockdrop

Definitely better then the dull boring original.

Fucking terrible. Even the film score was god awful.

I do think that this is better than the original. This was suspenseful, entertaining, and fun.

I'm a bit surprised at all the positive reviews. It was a pretty cookie cutter modern horror flick. A bunch of foreshadowing, jump scares galore, and dumb protagonists.

It wasn't awful or anything, just kinda forgettable to me. The doll looks like it was modeled after a 40 year old pervert with plastic surgery. Horrendous design. And some of the kill scenes were just silly, at best.

The movie didnt scare me at all, though it's possible the original was only scary to me because I was a child when I saw it.

Also felt like Aubrey Plaza was wasted. They didnt even let her throw in any funny lines. She was just the standard "doesnt believe the kid" horror mom.

To each their own. I would give it a 6 or so as far as horror movies go.

I d give it a 7 its an ok popcorn flick but nothing to brag about. Honestly if it was an original story I might give it a better score

I think it may be. If not it'd be pretty close.

Not at all. Even Mark Hamill couldn't make this one better than the original..

reply

He can now that he's a force ghost and has become more possible than you can possibly imagine.

The remake has nothing to do with the Don Mancini, Brad Dourif, Alex Vincent, Jennifer Tilly, Christine Elise McCarthy crew. And they don't support the remake. Saying the remake was better is a slap to the original crew and real Chucky fans.

I frankly don't think it's as good as the original. A badly programmed AI seems less scary to me than a sereal killer putting his consciousness into a children's toy using magic and then hanging out with a 5 year old.
