The guy being mowed down...

...how come the mower, or whatever it was, was able to tear the guy's scalp completely off so it landed comically onto the gnome, and peel off the rest of his face so it could be used as the hilarious "gift" later on? It looked like it should've torn his face to shreds, not kept it intact.

I agree the scene was asinine. The machine was a rototiller which would hack and chew up anything in its path. The face we saw later had eyes intact and make us believe there was an entire head and skull. That is pretty inconsistent. We saw the head on the corpse which was intact but the flesh was stripped off.
What I got a kick out of was chewing up a string of Christmas lights which were still lighted. That just made me laugh.

This movie had a few really stupid death scenes. I get that a movie with a murderous doll as a premise isn't exactly striving for realism of any kind, but still..

The mower scene was hard to watch. For the reasons already mentioned, and also the simple fact that he could have just like, slowly rolled to the side to avoid it.

Obviously, he'd watched Prometheus.

Thank you for that.

I guess you're missing something here: It was of course Chucky who, after seeing Leatherface do it on TV earlier, cut off his face to prepare it as the gift!

reply

Everyone here complaining missed that part.

It was also ridiculous that the "gift" still had teeth.

I assumed it was Chucky that had skinned his head and not the lawnmower, since we saw that scene end with Chucky with a chopping motion. Still didn't make it any more realistic mind you. The face presented as a gift was far too intact and clean than it should have been.
