Surprisingly good reimagining

What a pleasant surprise this reimaging of the classic horror film was.

A HUGE improvement over the last 4 films which i thought sucked and turned the character and franchise into a joke and a parody! the last good Child's Play film was 3 until now and this movie is on par with the Child's Play trilogy and back to the roots of the first 3 films on how scary Chucky was instead of a complete joke like Bride to Cult which Cult was really awful and killed the franchise.

I really enjoyed this new take on the franchise! the kid was quite likable and the mother too, i liked how Chucky was a practical effect and i like the idea of a killer AI than a possessed doll which was done to death already even after the third film. It really gave me a vibe of that Simpsons episode with the killer toy robots and Small Soldiers, it was something fresh and new. Nice make up and gore effects and has a vibe of Stranger Things to it. Mark Hamil is quite good as the new voice of Chucky and all. Sure he's no Brad Douriff but still competent.

I like that it did different things unlike the Elm Street remake which was just a lame near copy of the original movie and added nothing new but also steal lines from the other films. That's not the case here as it did it's own thing like The Blob remake did.

I like that this made Chucky actually scary again. I hope for a sequel as that could be good and this is an example of how to do a remake right. It’s so nice to see a remake do something new and fresh instead of just copying the original like Poltergeist, Elm Street and some or some halfassed lousy shot-to-shot same dialogue remake like Psycho and Omen. Nice to see Chucky be serious like the first 3 films, sure there's levity here and so did the first 3 and it's not a straight up parody like the last 4.
