they should have cast someone younger to play andy barclay.

because the actor who plays him looks to old to play will dolls or to have one.

Gabriel Bateman is 13 years old.

the original character was 6 or 9 years old. but in the remake Andy looks 13 or 15.

do you think they should've cast someone younger?

They should have, but they had no intention to. This isn't a casting issue, it's a story issue.

I forget where I read it but they're going for a straight up cash in on the success of Stranger Things. It's Andy's doll but his group of friends are helping him out in the movie. Same age group and even number of boys, if I recall correctly.

That's all it takes to be a 'cash in' on Stranger Things? A group of friends? Hate to break it to you, but a group of friends is not uncommon in the horror genre., or film in general.
