Anyone else enjoy the movie?

Seeing a lot of "it's bland" or "it ain't Dunkirk" or "such a simple story"

1. Told in 3rd person perspective which interchange depending on the scene to encompass the vast beautiful scenery. I loved the calmness of the river with the flaking cherry blossoms while riding the log downstream with the birds chirping about. Namaste.

2. Not sure why this is even compared to Dunkirk as they're different stories of British origin.

3. May be simple but it's the tense situations that bring it to life. The bloated, maggot/fly ridden bodies you see here or there decaying to near skeletons, the huge mazes of trenches dug out while following the duo, the music, and the environment the actors had to through to get to their destination.

The parts the gave a few startles for a few folks around me was when the tripwire blew in the German bunker, the sudden gunfire while Lance Corporal Schofield crossed a broken bridge, maybe the one where the darkness turned to bright red burning building and a mysterious figure stands near it before giving chase and firing off rounds.

i just saw it yesterday and liked it. it showed the horrors of war yet they kept doing their duty. it wasn’t a feel good movie but the acting was good and the story kept my interest.

It was ok, not as good as I expected. Spoilers ahead...
Basically he failed his mission. He didnt stop the first wave of the attack and he did not arrive before dawn. He stopped off for a pleasant visit with the lady with the baby when he should have been about his mission. He never used a compass or a map so I am not sure how he just magically found his way. I never felt any sense of urgency in him accomplishing his mission.

Never saw a sense of urgency?
The guy was all sorts of exhausted and probably concussed (to say the least) when he stumbled-in to that lady's living area.
He knew if he didn't catch his breath and address the gushing wound on the back of his neck he'd collapse shortly and never have any shot at completing his mission.

He was an immeasurable hero, 5 times over. He endured gunfire, hand to hand combat, a freezing river (and waterfall)....a mine collapse, a close-quarters bomb going off....not to mention full-on running in full gear, continuously.
It was more than most people could physically, not to mention emotionally, take.

He used the river, per the information from the lady, for directions. Ultimately, he saved hundreds of lives.

If you were expecting him to mow down a squad of germans, fight 5 guys hand to hand at the same time win, get shot multiple times and shrug it off ect. this wasnt the film for you. You may enjoy Michael bays Pearl Harbor more

I'm very surprised at the negativity toward this movie also.I really liked it.This was so refreshing for this day & age, considering what's out there. But I'm not new to the scene, digesting anything the contemporaries throw at me.I watch stuff from approx.the 50's till current times. No superheroes, dumb comedies,or women trying to be men.At least not for me.I give it an 8/10.
